Default My new RC car
Picked up a new Traxxas Ford Raptor SVT truck today basically the Slash 2wd. Lots of fun and I didn't have to put it together I'm thinking of getting a brushless system for it either the Traxxas Velineon 3500kv which would keep it all waterproof/resistant pairing it with the Traxxas 11.1v 3S 5000mah lipo pack or saving some money and going with a Castle Sidewinder Sv2 ESC & 4600kv Motor Combo and a Tenergy 11.1v 5000mah lipo pack much cheaper but no waterproofing. My friend has the same truck as me with a Castle Sidewinder Sv2 5700kv very fast but nearly out of control. I'm new to brushless systems so suggestions are welcome and I am looking for a reputable online shop with good prices Hobbypeople is local to me but pricey.

Nice truck. I have a Slash 2wd with the VXL in it, it's a great combo. It has no adjustability though, so if that's important to you go with a Castle setup and get the Castle Link. I wouldn't reccomend the Sidewinder SV2 with 4600kV motor for it though. For the same price you can get the Sidewinder SV2 3800Kv SCT combo. The SCT combo was made for short course trucks, and it has a 4-pole motor, which gives a lot more torque than the 4600Kv 2-pole motor.

I also have a Slash 4x4 with VXL, a 1/16 Slash with VXL, a Losi 1/16 brushless SCT, and a Losi 1/24 Micro Brushless SCT. I like Short Course lol.

Edit: My personal two favorite online sites to buy from are Towerhobbies.com (I'm a member so I get good discounts, $10 a year and it's so worth it) and Amainhobbies.com

I think I'll go with the VXL that SCT motor looks nice but I'm looking for more than just a 2S lipo capability I would like to be able to run up to 3S and the VXL will let me do that. Can't be letting my friends beat me when draggin on the streets :P plus I can run through mud water whatever and being as my friends and I just find dirt lots run on the street and go to the desert this looks like a more durable setup. I found the VXL on newegg of all places think I'll pick it up with the Traxxas EZ-Peak Plus that they also offer. If I get them together I'll have 6 months to pay it off deferred interest.

I wouldn't worry too much about only being able 2S with the Castle SCT. I've tried 3S with that motor and it is really nearly unusable with a 2wd Slash.

In any case, brushless + LiPo with these trucks is a TON of fun.
