The problem is that a female indentikit version of yourself may seem good in the interim but in my experience it leads to horrendous arguments. You want someone that challenges you, gets you involved in things you might not otherwise do. I know it's horrendously cliche' but you need a Yin to your Yang.
Actually in nearly 7 months of living together we haven't had a single argument and that's the Truth.
We simply don't have a single problem, The only time we have ever come close to having an argument was from an outside influence, i.e. her son causes problems or her ex (who we are going through a custody battle with) gives her problems or tells lies.

Because my partner is so much like myself, we enjoy the same things, have the same type of humour and we resolve problems in the same way too, I've never been happier tbh.

I've experienced that "yin and yang" with other partners and it didn't work out as much as you would have thought it would, But I've now got someone who is more on my level than any person I've ever met, friends and partners alike.

To the OP, if you'd posted this thread back in April I would have been about as depressed as you, Just split from my ex who was a total control freak, But I met a great girl through a facebook forum for people suffering with CFS/ME and I talked to her for 2 months, then met her and we moved in together after a few weeks dating, I moved 105 miles to Blackpool to be with her and we've been together ever since, tbh things couldn't be better despite her having the same illness as myself.

She is such an amazing person and we get on great, we not only like 99% of the same things, but since she is a Cancerian too, we share a lot of traits and our characters and personality are a 99% match too.

She came into my life when I needed a friend above anything else, but the friendship soon turned into Love and I helped her get through a difficult part of her life, when she needed a good friend too.

Just don't give up, looking for the right person, because most of the time when your not looking for Love, it will find you.
Which Facebook group out of curiosity? I've suffered with ME for 16 years myself.
I think this is the correct link, it's a closed group so just ask to join, Good support and they have a lot of people there who have a good understanding of how the Law works with people who suffer from CFS/ME,

Wow, didn't know anyone else on Futuremark had the same illness as me. Learn something new everyday. My rare stroke was a very rare occurrence of having this underlying illness ME (+ Hyper-coagulation Blood Disorder + Chronic severe head pain daily as a result after the stroke :S). (Still no one knows how to treat it, except treating the syptoms, i.e, band-aids)

Quite a few people here have said at one time or another that they have either CFS or ME, I remember when I first got diagnosed with CFS (7+ years ago) and "Chrisinthesun" said he had CFS and had had it for several years.

It's not the only thing my g/f has, she also has Fibromyalgia, Degenerative disc disease, IBS, Pelvic congestion syndrome as well as the ME and a few other illnesses I'm not going to go into as they are a bit too personal, But the worst thing is trying to get a sympathetic GP who believes in CFS/ME as most Doctors don't even believe it exists yet 250,000+ people suffer from it in the UK alone.

Sounds like you have had a rough time of it too, How sympathetic of your "needs" is your local doctor ?

Have you seen a specialist at all? Could be some sort of chemical imbalance. I know as per Blackstar's post I came off as rather misogynistic but in truth I desire women like everyone else, I just try and balance out those feelings with a healthy dose of negative realism :-)

What I mean, as men we're designed to conquest, mate, rinse and repeat, it's quite unusual for someone who I presume is relatively young to have a low sex drive unless they are suffering from depression.
I'm not that young 29, but I only had 3 different sexual partners in my life. I know I suffer from panic disorder and the meds I take treat for depression as well. I just never found the whole I need to do chicks all the time appealing. People like freak out when they go months without sex I went a decade.

If you take meds for panic disorder and depression that is probably why you have no libido because most of the common ones prescribed for those problems obliterate your libido.... Benzodiazipines, SSRI etc...

I've been on a range of antidepressants over the past few years, the last one was 250mg of Clomipramine, i've been off them for about 14months now, but still on Olanzapine for my bipolar and mood, I still get good and bad days in fact the last few days have been crap. Just a word of warning though the Clomipramine I was on started seizures Myoclonic and Grand Mal, i'm on Keppra for my epilepsy unfortunatly there are side effects like depression and anxiety which hold me back, it seem to be a never-ending cycle for me, they may help you. One thing that i'm having and helps alot is CBT, the thing is you really have to be commited in doing this though.

All the tablets i've been on have caused me nothing but grief from diarrhea, constipation, seizures, anxiety, severe indigestion etc.

My psychiatrist has been great in the support, he's not a pill-pusher unlike my other psyc dr, all i'm on is a few tablets now.

When I was taken off my antidepressant, the flood of emotions were overwhelming to say the least, I noticed that I was like a zombie when I was on them totally void of any emotion.

If you can get through this rough time without tablets that would be great, it's just a question of seeing the right person for the healing to begin.

That is spot on with what happened to me. When I was sick with my gull bladder infection I had to stop my medicine cold turkey. I was so emotional (way worse than now) I cried at the end of Shrek 4 for god sakes. When I am on them I am not myself but its better than being off them I guess.

Dude, this is what I do for a living, working with people like you. I'll say that you might want to ask your doc to add Wellbutrin to your meds, it can really help lower some of the libido crushing side effects of SSRIs. Not much I can say over the internet, but get help if you really feel like you are going to do something to yourself. Even a few days in an acute hospital setting could help. You would be surprised how many people we see that feel like something has snapped back in them after getting away for a few days, with people that listen... and hopefully care.

Some good advice in this thread, get out.. get away... and ditch the girl - if she's trying to run game on you she's not worth the heart ache man. Get your head straight, the only way to do that is by coming out of your shell... cutting yourself off from the internets would help too.

I took wellbutrin when I was giving up smoking and it makes your libido extremely high haha.... That is a good idea beacuse it would probably counter the side effects of the other stuff...

I feel your pain. I lost my job and then was diagnosed with bipolar type 2, but luckily medication turned my life around. Don't ever allow women to get to you - they only have as much power as you give them. Your life is about you and not them - they are only good on the side.

Hello Murder,

Glad to see you have 5 pages worth of support, i didnt read them all I am so hangover from New Year`s party, but by the way happy new year to you.

So, sorry for giving pointers without looking farther than your initial post but, if you feel bad about yourself for being in a rut, I can suggest this book called Feeling Good by Dr. Burns,
I had a minor depression 2-3 years ago and this book helped a lot in my case. I also had anti-depressants and psychotherapy wich went pretty well (the therapy I mean), if it didnt work out for you maybe try for another one ? It all depends on your connection with the therapist and everyone is different as to how they dispense their insight and help.

Like someone else said, when I feel crap I do a list of all the good things I have in life, or the past good things that I have had. You can also make a list of all the things you can do better than most people. Also, I've learned to not try to ignore my sad feelings, they wont go away until you've lived them fully. Myself when I am sad I play sad slice your wrist songs on the piano, then my roommate will usually come in and be like "Dude you want me to hang myself" and I'll be "Yeah, **** you too !". This is just to explain what I mean about living your feelings.

Also hmm, are you getting enough rest, healthy eating and all that ? I go for walks or jogging when I am filled with crap ideas and it helps.

Lastly about your job, find something else or try to do a short program that will open up new opportunities for you ! Having a job that is not fulfilling is the worst thing ever.

Are you into creative arts ? That could be something good to undertake, music, drawing, painting, whatever.
