US guys, what's your views on FOX NEWS?
Just curious to know what you guys think of Fox News? I'm from the UK and have Sky, I try and watch news as much as possible eg Sky News, BBC, CNN ect, then I come across Fox News, apparently their slogon is "Fair & Balanced" which I find as a little bit of a contradictionhttp://www.discussworldissues.com/fo.../confused1.gif, as I personally think it's unfair and one-sided.
After seeing some of this so-called news, I get the feeling that it's information is somehow flawed. Just don't get me started on Bill O'reilly[cursing] However Glenn Beck was fun to watch. Did they fire him in the end? How are people going to learn what's going on in the world with this kind of "news" channel? Views? |
Fox News is bias, racist and Republican most of the time. You could youtube it to see what I mean.

Fox news scares me. I worry that people listen to it.
|
All of the mainstream news channels are run by a handfull of very rich people and are all very biased / have hidden agendas and are very selective of what they report.
"Mainsteam news is a well oiled propaganda machine" lol |
MSNBC is far left, CNN is left of center, and FOXNews is right of center.
I couldn't imagine US media without that balance... but even so, all media can be twisted to suit a particular agenda, whether it's MSNBC, CNN, FOX News, BBC, SKY, Al Jazeera, etc, etc, etc. |
I watch Fox news only because they are the only right leaning news station on TV. It's nice to see someone with similar opinions. Why would any conservative watch any other news station? Of course its not to say its the best source of news but for TV its more entering than me trying to watch MSNBC.
|
My view is that at most, 3 million people tune into fox news at any given time (non election night) in a country of 300+ million. They are what they are because of the people who bitch, not the people who watch.

You are just getting a confirmation bias. Fox News is nothing by a right-wing propaganda machine, bought and paid for. There is reason why Fox News viewers are more misinformed than even people who don't watch the news. |
There doesn't seem to be a lot on integrity left at all today in the news reporting business, it's get the story out, source's be damned, we gotta get the scoop for our watchers/readers/listeners. I few years back something happen here locally, which I had the full details of a few hours after it happened from people that were there, for 3 days the press reported something different, then it finally came out, and it was just about a moose falling from a net after being 'rescued' by a helicopter, "it suddenly died, we don't know why" the drop from the net under from the 'copter might have been a clue had they mentioned it...http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...lies/wink1.gif
Don't believe the press [thumbup] |
I love it, best on the air, gotta stick with what's fair and balanced.

I lean to the left, and MSNBC is certainty left leaning...but I rarely, if ever watch their network. Why? Because I agree with almost everything they say; it doesn't challenge me to consider the other sides of a given topic. I also would strongly argue against Terranova's assertion that Fox is closer to center than MSNBC. Further, it's laughable to say that Fox and CNN are somehow more or less equivalents. Edit: Fox News has a story on their front page attacking Obama for not referencing God in his Thanksgiving address. That just about sums up their network. |
Terrorist fist jab.
Radiation from Fukushima is good for our health. Pepper spray is nothing but a food product. Need I say more? It's hard to take them seriously at all. They have no journalistic integrity. Interesting article I read a while back about Roger Ailes. |

With the last US election, I was looking at several American 'NEWS' services - the Fox one was full of deliberate mis-statements, distortions and outright lies. It's not surprising which of the members here it appeals to. However, credit where credit's due - their coverage of the hurricane that threatened New York was easily the best, IMO. I guess they have to get some things right http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...lies/wink1.gif. |

I tend to go to CNN and BBC myself. I consider myself rather middle ground though. It's sad that as an American I have to go to BBC to get coverage of world news though.
