What the hell? Father on facebook.

Does not add up. That's an old, old Mercedes.

He probably just parked it infront of someone's house and claimed its his. The old Mercedes reeks of someone who is buying for status and would do something like this.

Lebanon? That's barely better than Philly.

Ask him how many bathrooms he has.

whatisthebluepill 11-05-2010 11:16 PM

Yet another albie drama thread. Grow up and get a real job.

immewaycypef 11-05-2010 11:28 PM

We should make a separate subforum just for Albie and DrinkSnacks, and only allow them to post in it.

HassFks 11-06-2010 12:08 AM

why do you think you entitled to a part of your parents success or even lack there of? If the sins of the father are not passed onto the son then why should his achievements be?

ppaelkos 11-06-2010 01:38 AM

well i could lower myself to mudslinging on what i understand must be a sensitive issue, but i think im a bigger man than that

my question was rather more hypothetical - if i can reasonably expect to not be punished for my fathers misdeeds why should i feel an entitlement to share in his success?

Dwemadayday 11-06-2010 02:06 AM

It's appears to be an exceptionally nice house, but that car doesn't go with it. There might as well be an old Plymouth Reliant sitting there. I could park my old Toyota Tacoma with a golf course in the background and it wouldn't be mine either. What about an ocean, with a giant cruise ship floating on it? All mine! Cool deal! http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...ies/woohoo.gif

WaysletlyLene 11-06-2010 02:27 AM

You also think that all Euro toilets are squat toilets.

PhillipHer 11-06-2010 02:39 AM

Maybe it's real.

thakitt 11-06-2010 02:45 AM

So true Albie... I could build you a house like that for $3.50*... just sayin...

I will however not build you a railing on the edge of your roof, because while there may be some utility in it for those working on the roof or cleaning the gutters, that work would be done by persons who are worth less than one of the balusters by any reasonable economist. I may reconsider this if you happen to want to build an intricate pergula or have a suspended outdoor chandelier/waterfeature (and who doesnt?) underneath the work area, as a falling worker could damage valuable property (a significant % of the $3.50 pricetag).

*That will be the initial estimate, which may or may not grow to several hundred thousand over the course of the project.

Maybe because "bc1871" is only on your posts once, whereas "Asher" is twice.

So my father who I haven't seen in a decade and who was never around when I was growing up is suddenly on facebook and friend requested me.

In his photos, he had his house:

Yes, I believe that's a Mercedes... he even has a garden with a gazebo in another picture.

Is this what he was doing with the money that he wasn't using to raise me?! http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...lies/angry.gif

I don't know how to feel about this.
It's a 10 or 15 year old Mercedes as most low quality wanna bes in the middle east are prone to drive. Either way it looks like you're dad is a douche. Sorry to knock your family but any man who abandons his kids is a douche bag.

On a lighter note you'd be amazed how little a cheap concrete house like that in the middle east goes for (the big problem is they're in the middle east which is a shitty place). It's just concrete with a nice looking facade and almost universally poor construction. They do look nice before they fall over in an earth quake though. I've got even money that the house isn't even his.

Don't assume. While what you say is the standard, there are instances that don't meet the "norm". For instance, I was briefly married. She ran around with her longtime boyfriend. She got pregnant.
What do you think I did? I gave up rights and paid no support. It wasn't worth it to me to take a paternity test and maybe I was the father and get to pay child support after they married.
If I were to think about it for any time, I 'm sure that I could come up with other possibilies. GENERALLY, you're probably right, but take nothing for granted. Facts are needed.

Poor Slowwie. He was cuckolded. http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...lies/frown.gif

Tarrccrys 11-06-2010 08:44 AM

Did you use that line in your sig on her? She probably thought you were gay after that.

DoctorDulitlBest 11-06-2010 08:47 AM

When looking for "third world mansions" this is what google spit out at me. I think Al's dad's done pretty well for himself relatively speaking...

We run 10mm metal bar through the hallow blocks (which are lower quality than cinder blocks http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...lies/frown.gif ) on a 12" grid for the walls on a couple building projects so far. I really don't like that manner of construction... but it's what is common here.

Later, for a water tank up on the hill we poured solid concrete walls with more metal bar, 6" grid IIRC. Even though there was some confusion as to the thickness of the walls (so they ended up 2" thicker than necessary) and some bending of the forms due to low quality wood forms (so even thicker than that in some places)... the cost wasn't much more than the hallow block construction for a similar wall area. Definitely going that way on all future construction. Probably will even end up replacing the hallow block walls at some point when I get the chance.

Very, very Close, its a Mercedes 190 E or D of which the last was produced in 1993 so 15 years old at least. http://www.discussworldissues.com/im...ons/icon14.gif

No, but you can see how the roof slopes down to the base of the railing.
