Default 2½ Men
The housekeeper is a legitimately funny character.

How I Met Your Mother is far better.

I've never actually seen How I Met Your Mother, but as I understand it, the central conceit of the show is that it's all a story told by a guy to his kids about...how he met their mother, no? But that show's been on for several years now. Has he met their damned mother yet, and if not, why haven't the kids wandered off from boredom?
I believe the ending will be that he's a schizophrenic and none of the stories a real, including the kids.

Friends was a peculiarly crappy sitcom. You want a half-decent specimen, look at Seinfeld. Not perfect, but it definitely had its moments.

It tended to appeal more to women, I think. Women with bad taste.

The market has spoken, and it clearly views Friends as a once-in-a-generation success.

I always chuckle when the network calls 2 1/2 men a family comedy.

Similarly, Glee has more top 100 hits than The Beatles.
Also, Twilight and Left Behind are magnificent works of literature.

Rosie is also funny, in a creepy sort of way.

I do agree that they should remove laugh tracks though. They are annoying.

And The Da Vinci Code was utter garbage. I couldn't bring myself to read more than one page of Dan Brown's writing; he was that boring and crummy of a writer. The one page I read had the absolute worst simile I have ever read. It took an intrinsically exciting and interesting situation and turned it boring.

Friends wasn't that bad, but it was bad. Ninety percent of the "humor" revolved around the stereotyped characters exhibiting their stereotyped character traits. Joey is a dumb, horny Italian-American actor with negligible acting ability, HA HA HA!

In both cases, however, their popularity has no bearing on their craptacularity.

Still waiting for ANY polytubby to point out the flaw in this view (which I'm responsible for popularizing here)...

Left Behind is some shitty stuff. If only they had studied theology beforehand. Twilight I haven't read anything of, and I won't start now.

Oh, they did study theology. It was just bad theology, is all.

Drake, if you want to take the approval of the masses as a seal of quality, I expect you to go out to McDonald's on the next special occasion, then come home and admire your Thomas Kinkade collection.

EDIT: Realized I misspelled Kinkade's last name. Am perversely reassured that Firefox spell-check underlines it now.

Actually as sitcoms go, the writing is usually pretty good and the acting is above average. There are many worse sitcoms on TV today.
