Yeah they say this at the end though:

*All salary information comes from Payscale's 2010-2011 College Salary Report that details average earnings for graduates with a bachelor's degree and no higher, except salary information for Medical Assistants, which comes from Payscale's October 2010 salary information for all Medical Assistants, regardless of their degree, in their first year (average starting salary) and 10-19 year on the job (average mid-career salary).

My SO's a chemical engineer by degree, working in petroleum engineering.
I'm a CS grad, of course.

$56K starting seems low for CS, in any case.

There are a lot of CS people working 'relatively' low paying jobs. For example, a lot of the new hires for games development, I think.

This isn't the same sort of thing. If you are going to include all of these, then you should include lawyers and doctors and so on.

Funny that. In Europe chemical and material sciences engineering are among the highest paying jobs .

I live in a city where geology is massive (due to oil & gas), and they don't start anywhere NEAR $85K with just a bachelors.
We have a guy with just two years experience who is making over $80k with over time. The funny thing is he's salary but certain government contracts require prevailing wage to be paid so if you get put on one of those even if you're salary your compensation gets changed to at least union rates. Also, around here any way, petroleum geologists get paid more then environmental geologists or even engineering geologists so he's not doing bad for a lowly environmental geologist with only 2 years experience. I on the other hand end up doing paper work but still getting prevailing wage since much of the work is billed on that DoD contract. I originally went in to geology because I liked working outdoors but the higher you go the more time you spend behind a desk. http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...ons/icon13.gif
