Let me preface this by saying that I realize this issue has been beaten to death and I'm not going to make any false representations of myself and say I'm a hardcore PT'er or that I'm in phenomenal shape. I'm a big dude, I know that. And I'm working on it.
I don't find issue in the waist measurement, but I find issue in the supposed reason it's being implemented. Why does the Air Force insist that they're basing the waist measurement off of overall health? If that was the case, why aren't smokers, drinkers, people with high blood pressure, etc., etc. penalized on their PT test? Seems if that is the reason, waist measurement wouldn't be something that could affect your PT score, but rather something you and your PCM or base wellness center should deal with. To me, it's one thing to implement a standard, but it's another thing to BS everyone as to WHY you implemented said standard. Just a thought. |
