Default Golf Lessons
I've been playing the game for about 10 years or so, and I've gotten my handicap down to about a 9. I finally decided it was time for a lesson. Anything advice going from guys that take lessons pretty regularly?

Check golftec to see if there is a facility near you. Otherwise lol around on your local courses websites and go see their teaching professional. Find one that you mesh with and book a lesson to see what you think.

Check out a local pro. One of the courses around me has a leg of the David Leadbetter Golf Academy and I've been working with a pro there for a few years now. It's really helped my game, that's for sure.

Sorry for the confusion. I've found a great facility, I was looking for more advice on how to prepare for the actual lesson. Any tips?

It will really depend on you and what you are trying to achieve. I would make sure you and the pro you decide to work with are on the same page first.

Go in with an open mind and know that there may well be some struggles on the range while you ingrain the changes.

Don't be against changes. They might feel uncomfortable at first, but go with them. They'll probably work out better in the end.

I'll do my best. Thanks for the tips. Have most of you had pretty good success with lessons? I know it's probably dependant on the player/instructor. Just wondering

I have. I've been with my teacher for about 4 years now and have probably had 6 or 8 lessons with him in that time. I like having a bunch of time between lessons because it allows the changes we made to really sink in and gives me time to practice. I've made great progress with my swing in this time.

Good to hear man, stick with it and ask lots of questions. It is helpful to not only know what you should be doing but also why you should do it.

do yourself a favor and take short game lessons during your season and work on your swing during the off season. I've been able to enjoy the game year round now and don't get upset about my swing changes during the season cause im not working on anything. And good for you taking lessons. Lessons are the best thing i ever did for my game!

Be prepared for your game to suck for 1-2 weeks after each lesson depending on how major the changes are. Have faith that your swing will be better once you've adjusted to the change.

also if you like to read Dr Rick Jensen has a book you can buy on his website called Easier Said than Done. my instructor told me to read it. it talks about how and what it takes to make changes in a swing really was a great read and its only 116 pages. Really helped me when i first started my lessons on what to expect.

It was an outdoor lesson, he also used video analysis. After the lesson was over he emailed video of my swing before and after the changes we made with some additional pointers. Some pretty drastic changes. My forearms were separating a little too much before impact, causing my clubhead to get in from of my hands. So I'm Switching to the stack and tilt. For about the first 15 minutes it felt awkward, but I really started to get into it. By the end of the lesson I was hitting full swing shots, with much better clubhead lag. I play year round so I'm not to worried about the growing pains. Any of you guys have any experience with the swing method?

I expiremented with it a little about a year ago(a friend had the DVD set) but at the time I was too much of a digger and never really got it to work for me. I ended up hitting a ton of fat shots with it because of trying to keep my weight on the front foot.

I think the theroy has some merit to it, but it wasnt for me.

I like this idea. It seems like short game lessons in season will not screw you up short term and actually help and then long game off season when you aren't playing so you can practice and ingrain your swing for the season.,
