Aw cripes man, I rack up blowup holes like no other.
Last summer I had the worst one ever at Mansfield National. It's a 430 yard par 4, pretty straight, slightly down hill. Fairway's about 50 yards wide the whole way down, with heavy timber on both sides, and lots of brush on the right. 1)I topped the ball off the tee, and it dribbled down to just in front of the ladies tee, 2)so I get out my hybrid, and I was so embarassed by the bad tee shot, I shanked my hybrid into the brush on the right. 3)I found my ball, and I've still got 150 to the green. I try to punch it, and it takes flight, hits a limb, and goes further into the brush just ahead of me and to the right. 4) Another punch shot, which I topped, and it dribbles a few yards out onto the fairway. 5)I'm still 125 out at this point, so I swing an easy 9 iron, caught it thin, and it goes skidding across the green, and into the heavy brush on the backside 6) punch out of brush, and it comes up short of the green in the tall rough a few yards off 7) try to play a flop, caught it thin, it rolls off the front of the green 10 yards 8) chip it up onto the green, it goes about a foot onto the green 9) I've got 50' to the hole, so I putt it, and come up 15' short 10) it looks downhill, so I go easy on it, come up 5' short 11) putt it past the hole 12) calmly picked up my ball, and threw it as hard as I could into the brush. I called it a 2' gimme just to stop the nightmare. I was so pissed I couldn't see straight. I was playing with my brother, and 2 other guys that we got paired up with, who were single digit handicappers. They were just shaking their heads in disbelief as I flubbered my way around like I'd never played before. |
