Worse hole today.......i had a nighmare round but only one hole MORE than double par.

The 18th.

353, par 4. Doglegs right. Steep bank to the left, trees on the right.

Been having an awful day with the driver. So i pull out a 4 iron so that although short, i will be on the fairway. Hit a slice into the trees. been one of those days so without blinking i drop another ball on a tee. I then top that 30-50 yards to the right. Playable, but trees in the way. So i pull an 8 iron to tree and lay up in the fairway. Either bad aim or a pull and that onegoes up high on the bank to the left of the fairway. 155 yards still to go. Finally a nice shot with an 8 iron. I had figuered the height plus the slpe of the fairway would help. But it comes up short. A pathetic chip on and then a pathetically weak set of putts to hole in 3. = 9

so a recap:

1) in the trees to the right
2) Place ball on tee
3) topped short to the right
4) Bad 8 iron hit way left
5) good 8 iron hit short
6) chip just about gets on the green
7) Pathetically weak putt
8) Another terrible putt
9) holes it from inches....YAY!!!

by that point in the round i had given up a bit, so just saw the funny side of it!

Damn guys
I have had so many blow up holes it's not something I dwell on or choose to remember in detail.I forget whatever shots gave me a snowman or worse before I tee up for the next hole.If I remember anything it's having a gimme birdie putt that I miss and miss the 5-6' par putt that it turns into and end up with a bogie.

Oh, boy, is this the thread for me!

I will post only my latest disaster... I took a 13 on the par 5 10th hole after playing the front in 39. This hole is difficult anyway because there are houses down both sides of this dogleg right that limit the width of the fairway. I am a lefty and I pulled my tee shot just enough to put it in the fairway close enough to a waist high wall to restrict my swing. Instead of chipping out, I tried to turn the ball left to right and leave myself 100-120 yards in. I overcooked it, hit a palm tree and ricocheted out of bounds. I took a drop and hooked the next one. It stayed in play, but left me literally in the center of a bush. I took an unplayable and dropped behind the bush. My next shot caught the top of a tree I was trying to play over and knocked my ball down behind it. I had to chip out. My next shot was from a sand/gravel lie and I left it short of the green. I then chunked a wedge into the bunker fronting the green. I bounced a wedge off the concrete that was masquerading as a bunker and bladed the ball across the green and into....you guessed it....yet another bush. I had to take another unplayable and drop. My only drop was still behind the bush, so I had to chip out sideways. I managed to pitch the next shot on but left myself with a 35 ft slider to save my 13!!! I made it.

I love this game.

My latest blow up hole was on the Black course at Bethpage. 2nd hole, shortish par four up the hill. Pulled three wood on the tee and killed it up the middle of the fairway with a nice draw. 125 to the middle of the green, uphill and I hit 9-iron. Straight over the top of the flag, over the back of the green, about 15 feet from the putting surface. This was when I discovered that my chip yip is in full form. Duffed it three feet. Duffed it about an inch. Duffed it about eight feet. Duffed it about four feet, just on to the edge of the green. Putt to 3 feet before a tap in for my 8. Thanks.

The best one I've heard of was a friend of my dad's who got to play Augusta on the Monday after the Masters one time. He started on the 10th and made 3 there, followed by a 4 at the 11th. He walked to the 12th tee thinking this course isn't so tough, then the following happened:

1. Tee shot got a little safe and finished in the bunker over the back (regular sunday pin position).
2. Left it in the bunker.
3. Hit it on the green, over the green into the creek.
4. Drop back behind the creek
5. Dump it in the creek
6. Drop back behind the creek
7. knock it in the back bunker
8. leave it in there
9. leave it in there
10. play to the left portion of the green
11. putt
12. putt
13. putt

Worse hole ever "in my opinion" was in my first FSGA (Florida State Golf Association) Tournament. Actually it was a qualifier for the State Mid-Am Championship. The course was Hunters Green...length 6,979...slope 134...Designer, Tom Fazio.

On the first tee (par 4, 392 yds, dogleg left),

Shot 1) I hit a three wood. It was 7:30 am and playing right back into the morning sun...they had a forecaddie down the fairway because they said it was hard to track your ball into the sun. Well I push my 3 wood right but everyone thinks I am fine possibly in the right rough. I am nervous enough but now we get down there and the forecaddie says he never saw my ball. So we spend our allotted 5 mintues searching to no avail. So back to the tee I go.

Shot 2) Lost ball penalty (stroke and distance)

Shot 3) Now I am teeing off again (3rd shot) in front of other players etc... Now to make sure I don't go right I over do it and snap it left.

Shot 4) It takes me a few minutes to find my ball and it is in a horrible lie. I hack it out about 20 yards into another horrible lie.

Shot 5) I now hack it out to about 120 yards but it is now in deep rough (course was set up pretty tough)

Shot 6) I come up short of the green out of the rough

Shot 7) Chip up to about 8 feet

Shot 8) Miss putt

Shot 9) Make putt

So I am 5 over par after the first hole....needeless to say I had a terrible day and did not qualify for the championship.

Golf tryouts this morning, huge dogleg left pafr 4, 400 yards. Hit my drive pure, but left into an environmental hazard. I drop on the other side, hit an 8 iron 10 yards short of a huge lake in front of the green. 100 yards left, I pull sand wedge, put it long into a huge bank. Pin is tucked back, impossible shot from a thick lie above the hole, hack it out to like 7 or 8 yards, still in the rough. I am faced with a downslope and a pin that is only a few paces on the green(from my angle). I hit a flopadopalous, land it next to hole, but it releases down the hill to 20 feet. I 2 putt for an 8. I went from being 3 over thru 14, to 7 over.

The 12th at my local muni course is a toughie on a good day. It's a 420 yard from the whites, fairly uphill, tree-lined, dog-leg left par 4. I know that I definitely to place it on the left side of the fairway to even have a chance in two.

I had been driving the ball poorly all day, so I decided to take 4 wood off the tee. Since it was going up hill, I didn't think I would loose that much distance anyway.

First shot, caught it solid but but yanked it too far into the tree on the left side. Ball bounced back --> advanced the ball only about 150 yards and the ball is on the left roughs after the bounce, 40 yards before the dogleg left, with trees in front (no chance of cutting the corner). Decided to play hero since I figured the 'safe' play would just be to pitch out to the corner and even then I would have a tough go for the green from there. Decided to try to hook it around the corner with my hybrid. Figured if I can advance it in that general direction I'd still be better off.

Hooked it right around successfully.... and right up against another tree... Now I only had about 120 to the hole. Decided to pitch out to the middle of the fairway since I got tired of playing in the trees. Hit it a higher than I wanted to and hit a branch... landed in a giant monster of a divot. It ahd been raining in the morning so the divot was super soft. Knowing my tendency to hit these shots fat, I tried to pick it clean... and caught it thin and sailed the green... and back into the trees.

This time, landed in a muddy patch in the trees, facing a downhill pitch to with the pin 15 feet away. Green sloping hard away... Possibly the worst place to be in on this hole. It took me 2 shots to get onto the dance floor, with the ball rolling down to the bottom of the green, 30 feet away. Took me 2 more putts (including a fortunate 11 footer) to come out with an 8.

Long par 5. Tee ball nestled up against a tree trunk in the middle of a waste bunker. Took my unplayable drop and next shot was across the fairway about 150 yards into the water. Took my drop and hit into the greenside right bunker. Chip out and two putt. YUCK YUCK YUCK

185 yd par 3 into the wind. This calls for the 19* hybrid (I'm not a long hitter). Because of the wind, I decided a little more 'oomph' is called for--bad choice. Topped the ball into some weeds a few feet in front of me. Hitting 3rd shot off the tee, aaaand... slice! off the toe and into the weeds to the right. Luckily it was a water hazard so I could at least take a drop near those weeds. Had to hit a 100 yd approach shot and one-putt just to save my "double par" 6.

Had mine on Saturday, I'm still pissed about it.

It is a short par four (310 yrds), downhill with water in the front. The wind was really blowing but you couldn't count on the direction. I was really thinking driver since my round wasn't going very well anyway. Course management has been a point of emphasis with me this year so I went with the hybrid.

Hit a nice shot with about 100 yrds to the flag. Went with a PW since the wind seemed to be in my face. Hit it nice and it was about eight feet from the flag. We drive up and get out of the cart and then I see it start rolling

It rolled into the water hazard from a big gust of wind. It was hanging in a clump of grass over a big rock. I get down there and try to punch it up. It was such a weird lie that I hit it straight up in the air and back into the water. I drop it, chip it up by the hole. Just as I go to mark it, you guessed it, it starts rolling back off the green. Thankfully, it didn't make it all the way in the water this time.

Chipped it up well past the hole and two putt for my glorious eight.
