Default Hitting down with the driver? Anyone try it?
Woods and a few others apparently hit down on the driver when they swing. I have also been reading that if you are pulling the ball a lot hitting down is a better swing. It sounds odd to me. Tee up the ball so only 1/4 is over the top, put it back in your stance and come around at it like a 3 wood.

Anyone try it? Does it work?

I always thought you put a little weight on your right side and drive up and through the ball with the driver. I suppose if you use the stack & tilt method you may use a descending blow.

It works. It dives different things for different swings but people do it.

Not something I've ever tried. I was taught that you want to catch the ball on the upswing. I'm pretty good with the driver so I'm not changing. I would guess some do to hit a different tee shot but I would guess it is not all the time.

It adds a little more backspin. Some people need it. It also encourages left.

This lol. I hit down with my Driver usually and the fitter said the same thing. I'm trying to fix it but got dang if its not the hardest thing I've done.

Put it outside your front foot for a practice session. You'll feel the motion and be able to replicate it fairly easily.

Neat. And strange since the common idea is that hitting down will increase spin and launch.

And this is why you're my swing coach. I'll do that today. Thanks man!

If I am having a bad driving day (which is actually pretty rare), I do something like this. I put the ball back in my stance a little bit (half a ball maybe). And then try to keep my hands waaaaaay forward for as long as possible. The ball comes off low and hot, rolls a mile, with pretty good distance. I do this if my swing gets too wristy and pulling shots. But then I have to worry about pushes.

I found something interesting in this video....

It's sponsored by Callaway but he's hitting a Titleist driver?

I do however use this shot quite often. The wind tends to blow alot around here, so this shot is very handy.

This works really well for me. I'll setup the clubface about 3 inches behind the ball and make impact on the upswing. Gets rid of high ballooning drives.

LOL, I did not notice that Dd, that is funny. I guess Callaway is not really hung up on detail in the video, just wanting to get the information out.
