Default Cant hit RBZ 4 and 5 ... 6 though AW hit perfectly (pictures).
I thought I had done a ton of research prior to buying the set of RBZ irons I got, apparently I didn't realize that the 4 and 5 irons are designed very different from the 6-AW.

Here's a comparison between the two different designs:

The 4 and 5 have a much thicker head and the bottom of the club is much thicker ... almost like a funky hybrid iron ...

I hit the normal irons great but when i pick up the 4 or the 5 the club literally opens up in my hand when I hit the ball, I can feel it move with both clubs more often than not.

Anyone ever heard of problems like this with the RBZ long irons?

It was discussed in the RBZ irons testing thread, most folks had a small period of adjustment time for the 4 & 5 hybrids, they have a learning curve for most.

Yeah I just found that thread ... I actually linked a picture from it ... I'll continue digging into that.

If you can make the adjustment they're supposed to be long and forgiving. Hopefully it'll click for you here soon.

The 4 and 5 are kinda tricky. If they're spinning open in your hands at impact, that sounds like the club isn't hitting the ground evenly and it's either slamming it shut or wide open depending what's hitting first. Try choking down an inch and seeing if you have similar results?

The most obvious way to describe the feeling is, when I hit the ball it's like I hit it very much on the toe which causes the club to slam open in my hand (that may or may not be what is actually happening) ... the ball will then go more left than normal, and my normal draw will take effect and pull it back into my normal range. The shot itself isn't ugly per se, I lose a bit of yardage when it happens (often), the ball still goes almost where it's supposed to, but it feels GOD AWFUL (and I mean AWFUL) in my hands, and the solidness of the shot feels and sounds like crap.

Every club in the set was adjusted +2 degrees up on the toe because I am tall, and on the strike pad thing at golfsmith it indicated that the toe was hitting first.

At the range today I spent about 40 balls on the 4 and another 25 or so on the 5. I tried choking up, standing closer, standing further. The one thing that "seemed" to help was standing closer and trying to strike the ball closer to the shaft, a lot of my ball marks on the clubs are closer to the toe than they are to the shaft. However standing closer made me more apt to hit a nasty chunk, or turn my draw into a hook.

The 4 and 5 really feel like they are from a completely different set of clubs. I think I need to mentally accept that and change my swing or just hit more balls and get more comfortable to accommodate for the insane difference from the 5 to the 6.

try open your stance and give yourself some more room, no idea if that will work, but worth a shot.

If it's slamming open, one would think the toe is making contact with the dirt first and then flinging the club face open. You might want to go back to golfsmith and ask if they would check the angles on those clubs. Just because te 4 and 5 look different doesn't mean they should be giving you that much trouble!

I think I am going to do that because the only time I feel I hit it semi well is when I tee the ball up with the 4 or the 5 and purposely "pick" it off the tee.

Very very frustrating when a club is moving around in your hand ... I hit my 10 year old Costco special 4i better than this club.

I had the same problem. I actually pulled the clubs from my bag. I have been slowly working with them at the range to see if I can overcome whatever is happening and every once in a while I'll get a good one. I'm looking at it just like picking up golf for the first time. Got to learn how to hit a ball...again.

If it doesn't work out I'll be adjusting my OS RAC 4 and 5.
