I love my hybrids (straight and forgiving), but my ball flight with them has been really low. I had two perfectly hit balls yesterday go right through the green. Anyone have any thoughts/tips on how I can change this? Fwliw, in terms of swing, I try to think of the hybrids as irons, and hit down on them.

One other thought I have is that some people hit fairway woods of similar lofts better/higher than they do hybrids. It's just a matter of finding something that fits your swing. It's going to be hard to figure out your problem over a message board, but you could always try out the Mashie 7 wood to see if you have the same issues.

Thanks for the responses. I played with ball position at the range today, with some success. It may also be that my setup (with the club) was resulting in a lower ball flight. I noticed that if I didn't pay attention I tended to have the shaft leaning forward at address. |

In case anyone else was interested...
I had a 30 minute lesson today and had the pro look at this. He did recommend moving the ball up a little, but that was only a minor factor. The key was that my head was in front of the ball, leading to a much lower ball flight. He had me add more spine angle to get my head behind the ball, and it really changed the trajectory. If I can get this onto the course, I'll definitely be holding greens with my hybrids. |
