playing through it can be a tough thing, mainly because the slower group takes it as a hit against their abilities. I have never been involved in a situation where someone has gotten stabbed, but there have been some words exchanged.
I welcome people to play through. I'm barely even an average golfer and I understand that many people are much better and faster than me and I'd prefer it if they weren't up my ass while I'm shanking balls left and right.

Course Marshals should be armed! Anyway, where they hang out depends on the course. Sometimes they hang around the clubhouse and other times they roam the course in their little red golf cart on a power trip. When I was in the military we went to a course and the marshal tried to kick us because we had on tennis shoes instead of golf shoes. The proshop guy said we were fine and it wouldn't hurt anything. That marshal was a grumpy old man.

Just an FYI, if you are righthanded and you are "shanking" balls, they will all go to the right.

most marshals are older retired guys who do it for the ability to play the course free. They don't get paid, I don't think.

Makes perfect sense to me. We've been known to talk a bit differently down here. I think it's the other way around.
"But 99.9 percent of the time no one takes it this far."

Goodness.....the magic words here are "no one". Why is this difficult to understand the meaning?

It doesn't read "99.9% of the time people take it this far."

And, I don't golf.
So it's the other way around, and then it's not the other way around?

You Texans are funny people.

Tell them they can go armed, and they'll pay for the right to have that power trip.

our resident old grumpy guy (ryr) would do it in a second. He probably golfs with an AK in his bag.

When I'm shanking my balls, they go in all sorts of different directions.... Unless its cold.

My brother-in-law does it and he gets lunch when he works, and three rounds of golf a week.
