Hello Everyone,
Just thought I would introduce myself, as I'm new here. I'm just another golf nut always looking to see what's new with the sport. Anyway... I thought I would start a thread for anyone that was able to golf over the Holidays. I live in a suburb outside Milwaukee, WI, and took advantage of the (warm) 'sconnie weather on New Year's Eve. It was a sunny 44degrees here, and several local courses were open. I figured what the hell, and set out for a quick 9. Turns out it was very quick (less than 1.5hrs), and also one of my best rounds of the year! I shot a 38 w/ an eagle (par 5), a birdie, and several pars. It was a memory I will never forget! Let's here some of your winter golf stories ![]() |

Sorry, it was meant to be a thread on winter golf. I guess I got carried away on describing my round. Welcome fellow Cheesehead. I live just outside Milwaukee myself. Where'd you play? My daughter and I have been hitting the Currie dome quite a bit, and the course itself has been pretty busy for weeks. Today I got an email from my club, Muskego Lakes, and they were open today. The weather has been unreal. Kevin |

Thanks! Yes, I'm looking forward to another Packer SB Victory as well!
I played at New Berlin Hills. I guess you could call that my "home" course. Did you get the email that 7 of the Milw. Cty course are open this week?!? Gotta love that! I haven't been to the dome yet, but since you play out at Muskego Lakes, do you take advantage of the Moorland Golf Center? Since they added those hitting bays, they are open year round ![]() I've played Muskego Lakes a bunch of times (outings/league). It's a great track around here. BTW, I love what's in your bag... especially the TP CB's! I've been comparing them to the R11's at Golfsmith, and not too much of a difference. I like the clean look of the TP's. |

Thanks! Yes, I'm looking forward to another Packer SB Victory as well! Muskego Lakes is a fun, and tough, course. Always a little wet, unfortunately, but we live with it. Affordable memberships, great junior program, and really fun men's and women's clubs. This will be our third year there after being member at Morningstar. I love my TaylorMade stuff, and was fortunate enough to get it all through this great site when I played in the inaugural The Morgan Cup last Summer in Orlando. Make sure you check out The Morgan Cup threads to get an idea how cool this site is, and what it offers its members. It's pretty damn mind blowing. I like the CBs a lot, though they are not the most forgiving mid to long irons on the planet. Most of the original TaylorMade staffers went with the R11s last Summer when they were still pre-release. They love them. they are fairly similar to the CBs, but more forgiving from most accounts. A warning to you, as a Packers fan, you need to keep an eye TC, one of our members. He loves the Packers dearly, but won't admit it, and often makes crazy anti-Packers statements to hide his love for the organization. Kevin |

I did notice that the r11 were a little more forgiving, but not too much. I tested the 8 irons and they were really close. The difference was in the 4 irons. I'm a natural draw, so I was able to pull the ball more on the TPs due to less offset.
I've been looking into a winter range membership somewhere. I took lessons from Paul Mendel who I hunk is the pro at National golf center. That was when I was just getting started as a junior golfer. I would go there, but the moorland golf center is just south of me. Morningstar is a great course. I think it's getting too pricey though. I'mboping to get out to the range this weekend! I'm really glad found this site, as I've been looking for a golf forum. It seems like there are a lot of knowledgable folks on bere. I'm really interested in the whole testing opportunities. Are there many people selling there used stuff or even demo clubs? |
