Norman 'sucks' at golf? Now I've fucking heard everything.

By that measuring stick, Bernie Kozar sucked at football.
fixed

not sure how you could say a pro golfer sucks. but he is best known for choking.
Maybe 'sucks' is the wrong term. It's what came to mind when i first posted.

Norman's definitely known for 'choking'.

I can't think of too many times Tigers choked away a lead.

It's one thing to say "Norman was a great golfer who at many times had trouble sealing the deal, especially on the big stage"

I don't think anybody would find that unreasonable. Debatable, but not unreasonable.

To say he 'sucks' is not reasonable, by any measuring stick whatsoever.

He's got two major wins- majors is what most judge a 'great' golfer by.

Meanwhile, he's *more* known for melting down and not closing out leads.
Dude, there is middle ground between "sucks" and "Most excellent all-time golf god."

But golf sucks anyway. fucking waste of time and money. Driving ranges are cool though.

It just gets better and better.

What a joke.
Because i'm not a Philly-sheeple, fat-Phil (Mickelson) fan??

I take it you've never heard a single fat joke about 'Lefty'??

Lots of middle-ground.

My fondest memory of Norman was him stealing defeat out of the jaws of victory. That sucked.

I've always thought Norman was more hype ('The Shark') than he could live up to. John Daly, IMO, fell apart due to his weight and addictions...he was also more ad/promo hype than he could live up to.

Well the best golfer in the world is a low-life common passive aggressive drug-addicted sociopath.

It's a good thing i don't like athletes based on their personal lives otherwise i wouldn't like any of 'em.

Whiskey got it right. You said Norman "sucks." Even with all his trouble finishing at majors, the guy was the dominant player on the tour for a number of years. He is one of the top ten players from 1980 through today.

Edit: And by the way, that Philly stuff you bring up is weak. I think I have been one of the few Philly posters who hasn't given you a ton of shit.

Tiger is one of 3 superior players all time in Golf.

If had said 'Norman is a choker', there'd be little argument. It is very notable that for all his talent, he's fallen short so often in pressure situations.

However, a comparable statement would be saying that Patrick Ewing sucks at basketball, because he's not Jordan/Wilt/Bird.

Look Philly minion (and you have, BTW), I already admitted that i used the wrong term. Shoulda said 'choked' since that's how i was defining Norman anyway- a choker.

But evidently you wanna belabor this topic.

I didn't say that.

Said the thread title mentions both of their names. I made the comparison between their married lives (and golfing abilities).

Happy now??

Yup, only two majors...both in the UK.
And the Dodgers World Series wins in the 80's didn't count because they were against the Athletics and a subpar Yankees team.

In any other era Tiger Woods would have won 1/3 of the championships he has won thus far. He has gotten kid glove treatment, this is the first real scandal he has faced. They beat the hell out of guys like Hal Sutton, Payne Stewart, and Fred Couples in the 80's and 90's.
