I was robbed.

League tonight, I have an uphill par putt of about 10 feet.

I hit it hard, but not that hard directly at the hole. The ball falls into the middle... but hits the metal rim of the cup perfectly and is rejected directly backwards about a foot back onto the green.

I've never seen anything like it. I've hit hard putts into the hole before, but they usually glance off the hole, this hit the metal of the cup.

One guy says it's the first time he's seen the ball hop back out of the hole.

My buddy Bert believes the cup wasn't sunk deep enough. There was a small space between the metal and the dirt where the cup was seated in the hole.

Friggin' golf.

Ever hit the flag on a windy day and that's what stops a really lousily wedged ball from going over the green??

This was a way the Golf Gods took one back from ya.

There is a very famous situation where that happened to a guy on the 17th hole of the final round of Q School. He was right on the number and his short putt did just that, he missed his card by that one shot. As a result he's probably folding sweaters in a pro shop somewhere right now.

Joe Daley. Apparently whoever pulled the pin also pulled the cup up a little to where the ball could hit the edge squarely. Bad deal, but the rub of the green.
