It would also be nice if Phil would learn how to dial back his aggressive play when it's not necessary. He had no reason to make a hero's shot at 12, that's a hole you take your par and thank God you didn't put it in the freaking drink. Instead, he tried to stick it and closed it too much and didn't have enough club to make it.

He needed to be aggressive throughout the early holes, he was way back. He had it to -10 at 12, stop thinking birdie and tread water. With 13, 15, and 16 playing supereasy, you don't need to try squeezing another out of 12.

Poor Kenny Perry, I feel so sorry for him.
After seeing wife & daughter I feel no pity for him.

he wasn't trying to hit a hero shot there. he hit a bad shot. he pulled it and didn't give it a full swing.

He clearly hit a bad shot, but why would he hit nine when everybody else in the field hit eight? I really think he was trying to hit the perfect shot there and it wasn't necessary. Tiger took 3-4 minutes to consider the conditions before he hit the most dangerous shot on the golf course. Phl had his mind made up before he got to the tee.

I also think that Perry was lucky on 16. Nobody else in the field took that line to the pin, which brought the water into play. The play there is to hit it past the pin and let gravity take it down to the pin, especially if you are leading at the time. I think he missed it and got very lucky.

he said he was trying to hit it over the bunker which is a good distance left of the pin placement yesterday. the wind is tricky there which is why tiger took so long. given the iron shots phil was hitting yesterday i'm not going to question his club selection.

The 12th green is very shallow, so maybe an 8 iron puts him in the pinestraw or back bunker. I guess you're right...and it doesn't help he fluffed two putts he should have made.

really is the most frustrating pro to root for. given my other team allegiances i guess it makes perfect sense for me.

They can barely talk about how great Mickelson's playing, in between their swallowing of the massive loads of Tiger Woods.

Reminded me of Ray Floyd when he lost to Nick Faldo. He had it locked up, and his swing went into the shitter.
