You put my 975J up against new drivers and it looks like a large 3 wood.
I still hit the D.

you cant be that good if you need that many different wedges.

if I open up the face and my stance I can hit the ball practically straight up with my PW.

but, if I F up, itll be a line drive 60 yards past the green, high risk/reward, still, no one on tour has that many wedges.

Default Anyone ever used a flip wedge?
I tried one of these (64 degrees) at a demo day today. I gotta say, I'm pretty impressed with it's ability to basically just go up, go down, and give a little backspin.

I might have to add a 5th wedge to my bag.

man, i just use a 60. i can get decent spin out of the rough with it. a 64 is just overkill. but i have hit one and they are fun.

Why don't you just open your 56 up a little bit?

How can you play a round of golf with 5 wedges?

I have 2 wedges, as i find myself between 115-100 yards alot and a 52 degree wedge tends to be perfect for me in that distance. Anything inside i can work with a multitude of shots by messing with the club face, stance, and my feel. Personally like ryr said i don't see a need for a 64 degree at all. You can very easily open the clubface of a 56 and get the "height you need" i understand bounce issues but still i view anything over a 60 as a Novelty. No real need to lose a club for it. I hate Lob wedges as well so in my case a 56 is as high as it goes

Well, it's a thought I'm just toying with. I'm at 14 clubs right now, so I'd end up having to ditch one to make room for it...that'd probably be my 4 iron. But it's an interesting thought to ponder. It's a really easy to control club.

If nothing else, might be a handy one to have for specific courses.

no way dude, it's probably something you couldn't hit from a fairway very cleanly a high percentage of the time and if you are in the rough that is a perfect chance to open the 56 on up. Plus 4 wedges in your bag? That's a bit overkill

Naw, 4 is (for the most part) perfect. Got your standard 45 pitcher, a 52 gap, a 56 sand and a 60 lob (that I use almost exclusively for chipping). I never (consistently) generate enough backspin on any of them to consistently run a ball backwards a few feet from where it lands, though. You've got 14 club spots, might as well use em--and I have no use for a 2 iron or a 5 wood.

agreed with the 4 wedges only i have a 53 gap. rust cleveland wedge that i just love to death only i cant find a way to use it enough. i use my lob so much. it was pretty much the only wedge i was using last week when i was home but that was because it is a new one and i was trying to get a good feel for it. trying to figure it out. hit some no so good ones early in the round but by the end of my first round with it i was sticking it nicely and it was money around the greens. there is nothing more fun to me other than maybe a 300 yard drive, than hitting a flip shot around the green with a 60 degree.

I carry 4... pw at 46, gap at 50, sand at 54, and a 58.

64 just seems like so much more could go wrong than could go right. Skull, sweep under it in the rough, etc.

With a slight uphill, I can hit a pretty high shot.

Side story: One day in college the wind was blowing like 30 mph, so we weren't taking the day seriously, and I was on a slight uphill in the rough, straight into the wind. So, I took out the 58, opened it way up, took a full swing, it went straight up, the wind brought it back, and I caught it. And nobody saw it.

Now that's high comedy :P.

Question though: Why the pitching wedge a degree over standard, and the gap wedge 2 degrees under?

It was the way I bought my set. I have these golfsmith clubs that i've had since high school, everything was set at a couple degrees lower, because of the "design". The theory is that it's supposed to start lower, balloon a bit, and drop soft. Then with my wedges, I ordered them through the discount program at college (and titleist never gave me one wedge I actually ordered, it was great). Anyway, so I ordered a 56 sandy, and they gave me a 54. I already had a pw was at 46, the new sandy at 54, and a lob at 60.

So, doing the math, split the difference and ordered a 50, and hating the lob, i ordered a 58 (both delivered rusty, which I didn't order, but rusty wedges i now love).

I can't believe I just typed all that, no one cares. I'm not sure I even care.

And strangely enough, my greatest pool shot involves me cutting a ball into a corner pocket, the cue ball speeding into the cushion, it popping straight up, me catching it, and again no one seeing it besides the guy i was playing with.

I thought 4 degrees was a pretty standard club setup.

My pw is 48, gap is 52, sand is 56. 9 iron 44 and so on.
