Default best shot of my life...
well, i have yet to score myself a hole in one, but tonight i hit one pretty much equivalent. 440 yard par 4, i skank a 3-wood about 220. second shot, 217 yards, i hit a perfect 6-iron right at the pin and when we get to the green, it's in the cup.

i'll take it!

Congrats! A 217 yrd 6 irion is crushed, theres a lot of guys on tour who can't hit a 6 iron that far...Nonetheless its always a great feeling to hole out from the fairway especially from a long ways out like that.

yah i usually play my 6 iron for 210. got a nice little kick off the fairway right in front and rolled towards the pin. i knew it was right at it, but i didn't believe it until we got to the green and my buddy ran up to the pin and threw me my ball. more beer for us!

Always a great feeling walking up to the green knowing you knocked it stiff and not seeing the ball.

Sports boards has the highest average swing speed of any forum on the internet.
That may even include the PGA Members forum.

You mean you don't hit the ball 360 yds consistently straight down the middle??

I'm tickled to death with 250 and 230 from my 3 wood. I usually hang pretty close to the middle though.

the first month of the year my average probably started with a 3

i've hit a 300 yard drive, 85 yards sand wedge, four putts for double several times this year.

I once hit the ball through a clown's mouth, over a hill, and down a waterfall.

I was shocked it was in the hole.

I think it has more to do with the fact that a number of us here play quite a bit of golf, have been paired with an absolute BOATLOAD of people over the years, and each of us who have been playing 20 years + can each count on one hand the amount of people we've encountered that can generate the kind of clubhead speed (and given the distances being boasted, perfect 1.5 smash factors) boasted by so many posters on this board needed to achieve these kinds of distance.

It's nothing short of a galactic phenomena that so many people with such power have incidentally congregated all under one forum....that's centered mostly around football and not golf, no less.

Now, all that being said...sinking it from range (regardless of the actual range or actual club used) is always a wonderful feeling. Even if you bone every hole the rest of the day, you walk away happy cause you got that one true shot.

a man with sound reasoning. i like you. if your game goes in the shitter, fear not, grab a cold one, and swing out of your shoes on the next drive.

see, i think its that atleast for us lions fans, we either..

1. make a tee time for right after halftime because we will no doubt be out of the game.

or 2. just not watch the game and work on our games.

i live in virginia. terrible state except for the fact that you can play close to 10 months out of the year. lots of time to get better.

True that, but I don't care how much someone practices, a person can only generate so much speed. I could play 18 hours a day for 15 years and never crack 340 with a driver without some wind or slope to aid me.

I'm over critical of myself... i think if I shot a hole in one (which i've never done) and a 95, i'd be overall pissed about my day. Hole-in-one and an 85, I'd be pretty satisfied. hole-in-one and a 75, and i'd buy a lottery ticket.

What he's talking about isn't impossible, I'm a decent hitter.. 275 off the tee on average... I played with a guy last year who made me look like a child. I'm pretty consistent at 275, and this guy out drove me by 75 yards a few times. It was an odd feeling. I'm used to being out-putted, not out-driven.

See that's a driver though. We're talking more distance with a MID IRON than your average golfer can get with their driver. A driver you'll see anywhere from 190 to 370 depending on the golfer. A 6 iron? You aren't talking a 180 yard difference in distance between typical golfers.

Doesn't matter...I don't doubt there was some distance beyond that of wedge range involved, and that the ball got holed. I'm just...shall we say, dubious...of the range and/or club combination here.
