Default Most unusual golfing partner ever
I play Juniper every Monday (other courses on Wednesday...and Friday...and usually Saturday). On Mondays I'm always flying solo though, so get matched up with other such wayward players. Y'all know you get paired up with all sorts of people in that type of deal, but when you meet your partner at the carts, one of the last things you typically expect to hear is "Hi, I'm Alice Cooper; looks like we're playing together today".

I do believe this was my first headbanger partner. Not the kind of guy you'd expect to see on a golf course. Especially not the kind of guy you'd expect to see shoot a 75 on a championship course, either (71 here--managed to save my pride). The double lives of musicians. It's always the ones you least suspect :P.

Alice Cooper has been an avid golfer for quite sometime now.

He usually shows up in the charity/celebrity tournies.

I used to play behind Jim Hart all the time, and once when I was at The Whitmoor in St. Louis I got insulted by Joe Torre.

But I don't recall actually playing in the same group with someone famous.

I wonder if Alice thinks you are an asshole too.

Really? Weird. Do you mostly play municipal courses or venture out and play some of the more well-known ones? If you head out here for a while, it's almost guaranteed you'll get paired with "somebody" accidentally every so often.

Just in the short time I've been here I've gotten paired with Cooper (who is a surprisingly nice guy--wasn't real sure what I thought of the prospect of playing 18 with him at first), the guy who created Cisco, Stan Humphries (for those who remember who he is--though to be fair we caught up a bit in the pro shop and requested the pairing), and, unfortunately, Drew Bledsoe (who is, was, and probably always will be a world class asshole). With the exception of Cooper, all of them live right around here at least part of the year. Then again, this place being what it is, a pretty endless supply of the moderately-to-highly famous live out here at least part of the year.

Do you fall into the moderately part?

One of my friends also met Cooper in the clubhouse when he did a concert here. He apparently arranges to play golf wherever he's scheduled to perform musically.

Said that he was a raging alcholic at one point, drinking a fifth plus numerous beers daily. Started watching his rock and roll colleagues fall by the wayside, he decided to quit the substance abuse and find another addiction.

He credits playing golf with saving his life.

I'm a member of a semiprivate course, but I always have my own group and not a lot of famous people venture down into southern Illinois.

There are millions of avid golfers who don't come close to shooting 75. I am very impressed with your 71 and his 75.

Why's that? He's a good rocker and from what I've always heard a nice guy, but now I'd like to share a great quote from him...

Wayne Campbell: So, do you come to Milwaukee often?
Alice Cooper: Well, I'm a regular visitor here, but Milwaukee has certainly had its share of visitors. The French missionaries and explorers began visiting here in the late 16th century.
Pete: Hey, isn't "Milwaukee" an Indian name?
Alice Cooper: Yes, Pete, it is. In fact , it's pronounced "mill-e-wah-que" which is Algonquin for "the good land."
Wayne Campbell: I was not aware of that.

I once yelled at Jerry Springer for slow play on Longboat key club..it was sweet.

Beyond that, as a kid I caddied for Darren McCarty, Steve Yzerman, and for you in Detroit -- Sam Bernstein..that ambulance chasing lawyer.

Yeah man, it was very cool, right after the lemieux hit on drapes ..it was a few weeks after that and we were chatting about it. He hated his playing partner so he and I were just chatting the whole time.

Solid tipper, but I suppose that's why he may be broke as well!

And yes, that would explain your prior fuckedupedness
