So I've got about $93 in pro shot credit after my travails this summer. Not good, but better than a kick in the Titleists.
They tell us we can't use it on anything but goods in the shop, unlike years previous. Before we could use it on rounds, carts, range balls, etc. So what do we have? Shirts for $80-90, shoes from $100, etc. Discussing this with one of my team buddies, he suggests buying a club, "How 'bout a lob wedge, since you don't carry one?" Great idea, since I'm typically 40-50 yards out on par fives on the course I play on. Good call. Price for an individual club? About $110. (I paid about $270 for my entire bag of sticks about 10 years ago. Components, but well made.) Sticker shock. People pay way too much to play this game. |

The pro showed me how to use a sand wedge and make more effective for me than a lob wedge. Get to keep my 7 wood or 2 iron in the bag that way. My 2 iron sometimes works off of the tee, but not often. I use it maybe once a year as a trouble club, to get out from under a tree. Obviously I don't have to worry about adding a club. I don't have a need for a 7 wood as much as I need to find a way to hit to short distances. Sand wedge is hit and miss (pun). I'll let you know how it turns out. |

Good luck. Lessons are the best but you probably can't use script for that. http://www.lpga.com/player_results.aspx?id=554 Anyway, my handicap is as low as it's ever been, so I'm trying a few equipment changes to help before everything goes south. Just bought an oversize driver this year, believe it or not. Just got done reading Gary McCord's Golf for Dummies. Good book. Funny book. |

I'm as low as I've ever been, but I've been there before. 11.7. Spaulding charges about $300 for a series of lessons, maybe six. I haven't taken a lesson for about 10 years, and it was the best thing I ever did, but I'm cheap. Plus, I can go out on my course alone and do practice there. I'm still never gonna be a superstar. Guy on my team shot 65 to help us win the gross in league. I'm the second player and I brought in an 81. But I'll never stop trying. |

Aye. Single digits. I swore 15 years ago if I made it to a dozen I'd be in heaven. I'm now a 10-11, but that's too low, because I know my home course too well. |

Heckel gets $60 a lesson. They're advertised at 45 minutes but he's never spent less than an hour with me. Laptop and video camera with my swing on it and the whole shebang. I put a lot less effort into a lot better shots now. It's money well spent. I probably took 5-6 lessons last year. I know you're right. Until I hit the plateu, I will continue to kid myself. |

You don't really know a man until you've seen him 4-putt. I say hey why don't we just putt them all out? They say, no, takes too long. Then someone gets behind, someone refuses to give a 15 incher, and then It's On. |

The lack of giving a man his 4th putt has put a serious strain on our foursome more than once. You get to the championship, it's stroke play...nothing can be given. Makes for a few twitchy knees and one or two extra strokes in the round, I guarantee you. |
