She's 16 year old girl and she just shot 68 and 75 from the back tees. I'm impressed.
She isn't a closer. She is like a football team that stays competitive and loses in the 4th quarter. Or a basketball team that can't win the close one. A baseball team with a save guy.

In those 3 sports would we call that team good? No. You have to learn how to win. She doesn't know how to win. Tiger went the smart route. She sold out for money.

Are these football, basketball and baseball teams 16 year old girls? Jebus.

Btw when she actually wins something in her life(she only won what? One amateur championship game) then ill not have a problem with the hype.

Until then she is bode miller, another nike creation

Bode Miller is a world champion in a sport Americans rarely win. Your arguement seems to be going in circles.

If I remember correctly, she gets in on a sponsor exemption. The PGA makes the rules, so be pissed at them if you don't want her playing.

Seriously...why do you think they call it the US OPEN? O-P-E-N.

Luvda just keeps coming up with some good ones...that's at least the fourth time he's stated somethign as fact that is completely false.

Can you name the other 3 please? Ill be waiting.

Professional Golfers Tour. Not Mens Professional Golfers Tour.

LPGA has rules that say Men are not allowed. the PGA Tour has no such rules against women.
The FACT of the matter is the PGA was invented by a man for MEN to have a place of their own. Its well documented that women werent even allowed on most courses.

Im sorry if you want to play Phila but its MEN only. Get used to it.

This is funny. And completely false.

Glad you find it amusing. If its so false then why even bother coming up with the LPGA?

Keep it up though.

I think she does need to take some time now, until the next Open qualifier at least, and play on the women's circuit. This should allow her to build some confidence by winning and help her learn how to close. She simply chokes. She needs to learn to handle success. The LPGA should guive her plenty of that. I hope she tries to qualify next year, though. She has a shot and it'd be great to watch.

kimaddison 06-06-2006 01:02 PM

Phila Im curious to know how many women have EVER WON or even PLAYED IN the US Open?

Again...there is no rule saying the PGA Tour is for Men only...and Its well documented that blacks weren't even allowed on most courses...give me a break.

I have NEVER said there was a rule. Im telling you who invented it and whats its purpose was.

Do you have a link to me claiming any of these are written rules? If not then keep your lame accusations to yourself.

To give women a chance to play with those with the same skill set.

It doesn't matter if there is an LPGA tour...that doesn't change teh fact that the PGA Tour has no rule based on gender...it's just a fact.

Ding Ding Ding!

The PGA is a MANS association and had been since its inception. There is a reason the LPGA was invented.
I should count each ding.

1. The PGA is not a mans association.

2. And has not been since its inception, you know Annika was not the first women to play on the PGA Tour?

Quote:

Wow. Talk about comparing apples and oranges. Racism to some broad trying to get into a mens event.

Not even close.

Golf is not a mans sport but The US Open is a mens event. PLAIN AND SIMPLE.

Women have a place in golf. Its called the LPGA.

But I suppose it would be ok with you for all the men to go onto the womens circuit and play in their events? Figures.

Her making it would just of given you an excuse to try mens sports.
3. The US Open is not a mens event. That's why they call it the US OPEN! It's open to anyone...black, white, yellow...male, female.

4. No, it would not be ok for men to go on the womens circuit considering they have rules preventing that...rules in which the PGA Tour DOES NOT HAVE.

I came up with four completely false statements you made.

markbila 06-06-2006 01:30 PM

Ill ask you again Phila.

Where did I EVER say it was a RULE?

hellenmoranov 06-06-2006 01:31 PM

And its pretty obvious its a MENS event ( The Open) since NOT ONE WOMAN has EVER won or even played in it.

Jueqelyl 06-06-2006 01:33 PM

And BTW Phila...why do you keep trying to make some sort of race argument?

From what I have read nobody has said a person of color cant play in it but you keep trying to shove it down peoples throats that they can.

Interesting....

barsikjal 06-06-2006 01:38 PM

Meh, its like beating your head against a brick wall with you. Obviously youre on some sort of crusade about this.

Im sure it has something to do with you not getting picked in kickball 10 years ago in 6th grade.

You just dont seem to understand the ENTIRE game of golf and why the sport is even around. Its people like you that try and change good things but fail miserably.

Later.

There was a time when no Black had ever played in it either...does that mean it's the way things should be...

Interesting....
Because you and others keep making the same arguments that people came up with to keep black people away from the game. No women has ever played...no black has ever played...women weren't even allowed on the course...blacks weren't even allowed on the course.

It's discrimination...either way you want to put it.
