I played in a scramble yesterday and one today.
Yesterday we were -6 and didn't win anything. -13 won. I won a dozen maxfli's for putting a 165 yard shot to 6 ft. on a par 3. My buddy won the 50-50, 190 bucks, but we didn't win anything as a team. Nice course, nice day. Today we played in the Federated Auto Parts scramble at a goat track. My one buddy owns a body shop and we played with him. -9 and we tied for first. They had 1st and 2nd place trophies and said we had to figure out a way to break the tie (guess they never heard of a scorecard playoff). They said a chip off and I was all for it since I wouldn't have to participate. Then they said flip a coin, I was for that too. Well the other team wanted to have a long drive contest for it, they had a big boy who hit it a long way. My teammates ordered me to go to my truck and get my Titleist driver which they call Big Red. Craziest thing I've ever seen. They said hit it over this pond, and it has to hit the pond or go over it. No going over it, about a 400 yard carry. They'll tell who's longest by where it splashes. Big boy on the other team cracks one out there, 30 yards short of the bank. I said sorry boys, I don't think I can do anything with him. Well I put mine right by him. They couldn't tell who was farthest so they flipped a coin and we won. I also won a real nice leather carry bag for closest to the hole on a 220 yard par 3. 6 feet from the hole with my 7 wood. Back to playing my own score at my home course tomorrow. I'll probably have a hard time shortening my swing. |
