How does Tiger go to #1 after the win, when he hadn't won in forever? I must look into this.
Yeah, I don't understand that either, the only thing I can say is if Vijay has a year semi close to tiger there is no way he is not number 1 at the end of the year because he was way better in 2004.

Is that 'buildup' like rooting for the geeky kid to get laid in a 'coming of age' teenybopper flick? If so, I'll bet that BMF can understand the emotions.
I don't know, so I'm gonna go with "yes"

It's based on a 2 year system...Vijay may have had a mediocre 2003.

I don't know about any of you guys but I don't like Tiger anymore, he has become too much of a showman. I am a Phil fan, but I never disliked Tiger until now. Phil knocks a chip that rolls just by he tips his hat and smiles. Tiger does the same and acts like he was shot even though it was a great shot.

And what's with the two step after that big drive on Sat. Why?
I still like Tiger.

I never disliked Phil.

I was rooting for golf today.

Great tourney.

Ford is happy.

Doral is happy.

NBC is happy.

Tiger is happy.

PGA is happy.

And if this portends more Phil, Tiger and Vijay Sundays ... Phil will realize he is happy, too.

VardyCodarexyz 08-08-2006 07:00 AM

I'm happy too

I remember how nice it was when Tiger bursted on the scene. Even if people dont like him, you cant discount the fact that he revolutionized golf today and he made everyone else step up their games in order to catch up.

And now, with him seemingly "back", golf is set to explode all over again

Vijay overtook Tiger only near the end of last year (August PGA). So they were never too far apart from then until now.

Unless Tiger really really catches fire, there may be some changes at the top as the year goes on, ... unlike the rather boring and unchanging status of recent years ...

all you johnny come latelys can go ahead and jump off the phil bandwagon, especially if you jumped on after last years masters.
Actually, I think people had been continuously building up everytime he lost (the whole pulling for the underdog thing).

I'd actually been on the 'phil needs to win a major' bandwagon since '01 when he lost to Payne Stewart. And especially rooted for him harder for whatever reason since Payne died. R.I.P.
