Default What is it with.....
What is it with when I dont play for a while the next time I go out I play great. Sunday, my cousin and I played a round at Atlantic C.C. in Plymouth, MA. I swear to God i havent played in about 4 weeks due to some commitments. Anyway,I hit no more than about a doz. warmup balls, felt pretty good, all straight and long. Took about 4 or 5 practice putts and maybe 5-10 chips thats it. This course is not overly long,6400 yds. and I shot great. Shot an 82! Holy crapizzle! I need to take more time off.

Great round. Guess you need time off more often!

The same thing happened to me a few months ago. Its odd how this happens, it seems to go against logic.

They are called Golf Gods. If you love the game and only play once in a while you will shoot great making you want to play more then when you play more often you swing goes to crap so you play more to get it figured out. Gotta love it. nice score by the way.

You had time to forget all your bad shots and went to play with no expectations or pressure from yourself.

It could be down to you really wanting to get out there and play and instead of putting pressure on yourself, Your just going out there and enjoying it

Golf is a muscle memory sport and with a month off your muscle forgot all the bad things you used to do and was natural. Great playing for four weeks off.

I typically find my mid and long shots are better with a little break, the few times I might actually take a little break. But my short game always goes to crap in those breaks.

I tend to agree with those who mentioned playing without pressure/expectations. Golf seems to be a lot easier when you aren't constantly putting pressure on yourself to hit that perfect shot.
