Suddenly I hit a draw!

Since as long as I can remember I have always had difficulty being consistent with the driver or 3 wood. The main problem being a very steep action, playing across from out to in and/or hitting down like an iron shot. This resulted in a wide dispersion of shot, either straight left, straight, fade or slice - all equally possible at any given momen! This made for frustrating and confidence damaging golf. Recently I have started skying my driver from the tee which is very embarrassing as well! So last week I put the driver and 3 wood away and played all the long holes using my 3 hybrid and 4 iron which produced more consistency. However yesterday while trawling through Youtube I watched a lesson on how to simply and effectively develop a flatter swing plane for the driver and 3 wood which would promote a sweeping action so vital for these clubs. I had planned to try this out at my range but a buddy of mine called me after work for a quick 9 holes. So I decided to try out this simple technique for real on the course. OMG! 1st hole hit a slight draw with my 3H, 2nd hole hit a draw with my 3W and so on. For the first time in my life I was aiming to the right of the fairway and my shots were drawing anything from 5-15 yards back on to it. A couple of tee shots did however go dead straight which messed up my plans a little but I managed to play second shots from the rough. So by the 8th hole I felt confident to get the big stick out! Unfortunately I hit it dead straight to the right onto another fairway! Oops!

However what is clear is this sweeping action in allowing me to swing from in to out for the first time ever but I have a few things to work on when I have a lesson in a couple of weeks. Feeling more confident now. Gripping the putter differently has also helped with my putting by keeping my hands passive. http://www.thehackersparadise.com/fo...ies/act-up.png

It's amazing what a little instruction will do for your game. It's even better when you can see a PGA Professional who can diagnose "your" problems and get you on the right track. I have learned a lot from instructional videos on the web though. I agree, share the video! :)

Guys I will try to locate the video this evening when I get home. The tips seem to involve giving yourself more room to play the shot (standing a little further away with more knee flex) and shaft at a slightly flatter angle to the ground. I don't think it was rocket science! ;)

The extra bonus of my twilight round of golf was finding a one hit wonder Pro V1 in the heavy rough on the last hole! :)
