I played in the Dublin area in June for the first time for any overseas golf.

I played, and got my butt kicked. at the following places: European Club, The Island, Portmarnock Golf Club.

I enjoyed them thoroughly. My scores went high due to lost balls after missing the fairway (just could not find them) and trouble getting comfortable on the large, rolling greens.

It improved my ballstriking considerably to hit the ball first to hit low shots to combat the wind. I came back and tied my low round ever (84) after not breaking 100 over there.

I was there in 2007. Played several courses in Northern Ireland and a couple in Ireland. Royal Portrush and Royal County Down were the highlights of the golf.

I have been wanting to get back there since my plane landed back in the States. I love Dublin and the coast of Northern Ireland. I'm a huge fan of Portrush -- just a really cool town.

I was at Portrush at the weekend and the course looks magnificent. It hosted the Irish Open very well and previously held an Open in 1951 I think and hopefully they bring it back in the next decade!
