Default Fast or slow greens?
Which do you like better?

Today I played slow greens and while I felt I cold be more agressive with my putts, downhill ones felt ugly, like I didn't trust myself in a sense when putting downhill. Cause the past few months I have been playing on fast ones and knowing I have to let the ball just drop into the cup compared to todays greens which I had to actually putt it to the hole on downhill putts. So personally I like slow greens.

Fast. It eliminates me having to think about pace so I can just focus on the line. For whatever reason I don't mind a downhill putt on a fast green since I can just bump it to get the ball rolling on my line.

Of course there is a video from the MC footage that refutes this post!

Fast greens. I feel they are easier to get your ball to stay on line. I feel the harder I hit the ball the more off line it has the chance of becoming and starting. I've always played better on faster greens as well.

I can adjust either way. I just hate mickey mouse pin placements. Side hills holes make me so furious.

I prefer fast greens. Although I do understand that fast is relative of the quality of courses you have access to. Really slow greens have a tendency of frustrating me as I generally go back in forth being too long and too short.

I totally agree. For me fast greens are much easier to putt on. I never really adjust well to slow greens, I can never get the speed right. I feel like I have to pull my driver out for long putts lol.

Fast greens all the way.Ball stays on line better and it's easier to make a smooth stroke on fast greens then to have to hit it on the greens

The better putter I become, the more I enjoy the greens running faster.

I prefer faster, but the real problem for me is that I just can't bring myself to hit it hard enough on the front nine of slow greens, then the next session on fast greens, I ram everything by 10 feet.

I want them as fast as they can be without dying basically. Makes reading break easier for me and I don't have to take a long stroke to move the ball.

Fast, faster the better. Within reason, of course.

But where I may differ from many, I don't have a problem at all practicing on slow greens. It doesn't seem to negatively effect my stroke during play on fast greens at all. Same with chipping.

I prefer fast greens but I probably score better on medium-to-slow ones. As has been said, if greens are too slow you need to hammer the ball which doesn't lead to good putting at all. But fast greens tend to break more and punish mistakes much more severely. Really fast greens can also make it difficult to get your approach shots close to the hole, leading to harder putts.

Fast conditions are always fun but, especially if you're not accustomed, can be extremely difficult.

I prefer the faster greens, when I play the slower greens I can't seem to make the adjustment and leave the ball short.

I wish I was good on fast greens but I'm not at all because my course's are rather slow. And when I get to a course with REALLY slow greens I make everything. So slow.

Speed isn't real critical, it's about firmness and trueness of the putting surface - which typically means faster greens, though I've been on really good medium-speed greens. True "slow" greens don't typically roll true enough for me to enjoy.

Come down here, I'll show you some greens that are tortoise slow but roll true. There's slow and then there's bumpy.
