Default Playing with a hurt finger
Ok so this may sound dumb but I'm really new to golfing and don't know all the mechanics involved. I ended up getting a pretty good cut on the top of right index finger, at the first knuckle from a brush-cutter. I have a round planned for Friday and was wondering how it would change my shot if I can't put much pressure on the club with that finger. It feels like I'm swinging fairly normal hitting birdie balls in the back yard but didn't know what I should expect to lose once I actually got on the course. Anyone have any experience with something like this.

I cut half my right thumb off with a vegetable slicer last June, taped it up pretty good and took some pain meds and was able to still play in my league. Granted my thumb was taped up and quite large and my grip was affected, but I was able to be out there.

For your case, depending on if you are right or left handed, the tip of your right finger may not play that large of a role in your grip. Im right handed, and I know for me the middle of my right index finger is the pressure area where I hold my grip, not so much the tip of it.

Funny, I'm going through the same thing right now. I have a horrible wound on my left index finger and can't take my normal overlap grip and have to change to interlock until it heals.

My answer would be changes may be necessary but you can still play. I guess I need better pain meds.

Should have been more specific sorry, I'm right handed and its the first knuckle up from the palm. Thankfully the bone stopped the blade from going any farther. Right now I can bend it to the point that it touches the grip but that's as far as it bends. It bust open every time I take a divot but doesn't seem to hurt to bad. Looks like I'll give it a go and just try to superglue the heck out of it before I go. Good news is with a swing like mine I guess it can't make it that much worse.

You should be alright, just take some Tylenol or similar with you in case it gets to hurting. Take some before hand to hold it as well.

You could also wrap a bunch of athletic tape around that area so that the skin doesn't get irritated on every shot.

Rub some dirt on it! You will be fine. Seriously, just take some aspirin and tape it up and you will be good to go.

Good movie

All of the first aid advice is probably good err, with the exception of the rub dirt in it part.

I am right handed and a few years back I jammed the middle and ring fingers of my right hand. The resulting lack of grip actually improved my swing because it forced me to slow down or risk losing the club.

Hope you have a great round.

Smokedhog sounds like you need to take that finger to the woodshed buddy. Throw some stump liquor on it, tape er up good, and get ya arse back out there
