Default Hitting a Draw - Distance
I'm sure everyone here knows that hitting a draw should add some distance to the shot. How does this occur? What property of curving the ball right to left (for a righty) adds distance, and the opposite can kill it? Do you see added distance with a draw? Can you intentionally make this shot happen?

Personally, I can hit a draw if I need to and it does add some distance. I have no clue why this occurs, I just know that it does.

A draw usually has the benefit of a neutral or closed face and an inside-out swingpath, both of which will increase distance. A slice or fade can be a swiping shot that produces much more backspin.

A draw tends to have less backspin which helps it roll. Fades tend to have more backspin which helps it check up more.

To me there are several factors that contribute to a draw being longer than a fade, for me.

1. Less backspin which helps the roll.

2. Less sidespin which saves distance by staying online vs dying off to the right.

3. A draw swing is several mph faster for me because I'm on a better plane and using my body more effectively to generate power.

Less loft I think? Its almost as though you're using the next iron up. The opposite is true for a fade...
