A ton of good tips on here and great thread! This is what I am struggling with right now so I know exactly how you feel. I have been trying to change my swing path forever which will probably take me 10,000 more swings . Golf is so mental and once you get some sort of skill, I think a large portion of the problem vs solution is in the brain. If I had a golfers brain I could be a single digit right now. You can look at my signature at the bottom of the page and it tells the story. Listen to what the guys who know how to train your body but also train your mind to be strong.

Always take one shot at a time. Develop a pre shot routine and stick to it. Don't fight your natural ball flight, I see so many players that have a consistent fade but refuse to play it because they may hit one drive out of 20 dead straight. It's so much easier to predict a curved ball flight rather than a straight one. And really practice on you short game!

When you figure out the answer to this question let me know!

JK, I agree with several statements here but I think one key thing I have learned is eliminating high numbers. I would end up with a blow up hole because I tried to take shots I shouldn't and then I tried taking more risky shots to make up for it. Just play the shots you know you can make and it will make a big difference.

I work very hard to eliminate big numbers. I play a brand of golf that capitalizes on my comfort shots and works to eliminate the shots I struggle with. If I go into the trees, I punch out. If I have a long way to go, I play it to a number I am comfortable with rather than being a hero.

Its about working with in your game, rather than someone elses.

Practice makes perfect, but only when practicing the correct things. If your goals are to get better at this game and score well overall, seek help. The best in the world have had help to get there, there is no reason us amateurs should not do the same thing.

Never swing 100% at anything, find a nice smooth tempo and work on a good weight shift...trying to hit the ball as hard as you can leads to tension and bad shots.

Work on your short game...spend at least 65% of your practice from 100 yards and in...this is the best way to turn triples into bogeys and pars. Set a goal to make bogeys....18 bogeys is a 90!

This is similar to my train of thought when initially trying to break 90 way back whenever that was... I'd just look at the card and try to make all 5s. bogey the 4s, par the 5s and if you get a 4, then you don't feel so bad about a 6 but if you get a 7, try for a 3 to even it out. next thing you know, you'll have a bunch of 4s 5s and 6s and it'll be

Play a lot more golf, it will come.

Beware though, no matter how good you get, you will always want more.
An excellent point, the more I play the better I get, but then I want to get even better!!!

Here's a question... Breathing. Do you breath in on the backswing, out on the down?

Do you suck in a lungful on the back, hold it through the down and breath out on contact?

Have you ever noticed? Do you think the rhythm of breathing has any effect on your swing?
Spazz, I try not to think about it, but play skins against a couple buddies and have made a point to ask them that question right before the step up to the Hal. Works! Lol
