surprised so many are quick to ditch the putter... I bet that'd be something they regret after 3-4 jacking every single green!

especially if you leave your preferred chip/pitch wedge out of the 3 clubs... you're going to have longer putts than you would normally encounter on a casual round... making the putter even MORE important
That's why I asked if they were allowed a putter. If it's one of the three, then I think you'd have to take it. Then I'd take the highest club that covers the forced carries, probably my 48˚ (depends on the first club) and my putter. Agreed that there would be a lot of strokes lost on the green without it.

For me it would be 3 hybrid, 7 iron and GW. I think that should allow be the best situation and gaps. I'd like to be a little longer off the tee, but need a little more into some of the longer holes at the course.

I would go 4h, 7i, 52*

I putt surprising well with the blade of my 52* and I think that having a 52* would save a ton of shots over the course of a round.

Using a putter I end up with: 4h 9i Putter, but lord knows what happens if I am trying to get out of a greenside bunker with a 9i, or if I leave myself short sided and have a delicate chip. I think those would cost me MANY strokes by not having a putter on board.

Driver, 8 iron, putter.

or if everyone gets a putter plus 3,

Driver, 7 iron, 54 degree.

Hmmmmmmmmmmm. I have often thought about getting my group to do a 3 club challenge, just to change things up.

I would probably roll 2 hybrid, 6 iron, and sand wedge.

depends on the course but for sure, my 3i hybrid. (assured accuracy at 150-215 yds) 8iron (135 and less...this is my bump-run club) and probably my putter

NarunapyCalry 06-26-2012 09:13 PM

3W, 7i and GW if the putter doesn't count, if it does then 3H, 8i, putter

raskrutkaseo 06-26-2012 09:31 PM

I'd probably go 2h, 8i and putter...or 50* and putter if the putter didn't count as one. I'd have something from the tee, something into the green and then the putter which could also be used for long bump and run type chips if it had to be.

I think the big question is to bring putter or not? You can save a lot of strokes on the green with that putter unless you think you can putt well with another club.
My league is doing a 3 club tourney probably mid-july. Putter counts as one club. The course is super short, 9 holes, about 2100 yards. If it remains dry, I can reach the longest holes with two 7 iron shots. So I'm thinking I'll be going with a 7 iron, and my 56* wedge for sure. I've been playing around and putting with my irons. The greens aren't fast or big, so I just need to be able to 2 putt. If I can get decent enough with the 7 iron, I may put a longer iron in the bag.

Honestly...I will have to ask about the putter for my said tourney this thursday...but I say the putter counts, so literally 3 clubs.
I have a feeling that my putter would cost me more strokes than it would gain me. And I'm a good putter. But with 3w, 6i, 48*...I would hope I could at least 2 putt every green.

BlackBerry Tapatalk...laugh it up.
