So me and two buddies of mine are playing a round and we are one hole that is along some houses.....as we approach the par 5's green, my friend goes to hit and a group of people hit an air horn. we laugh and its funny the first time well, his next two shots(hes not very good) they do the same thing. It became very annoying at this point. my question is , next time i play is it wrong for me to mark my ball "nice airhorn" and maybe shank a shot through their window? im just joking about doing that but i just needed to rant about that a little. I don't know really who to call in that situation though, some help on that would be the real question.

A**holes will be a**holes. I can't tell you the amount of times we will be playing on our road hole (two tee boxes actually sit right by the road) and someone will drive by blaring their horn as you are in the middle of your back swing. The way I understand it, if they are on their property while they are blowing the horns, there probably isn't much you can do, other than grit your teeth and maybe issue them a one finger salute. If they are coming onto the course to do it, find a marshall or call back to the clubhouse. Other than that, it's down to your first choice, which is develop a quick bout of the shanks and shank one through the living room.

Not the same thing, but I was playing a few weeks ago and coming out of the garage from one of the houses on the course was the worst version of "Smells Like Teen Spirit" I have ever heard. And sounded like they had their amps turned to 11, to boot. Distracting? yes, but also hilarious. Contacting the course or police is the way to go. Even if the police don't issue them a citation or anything, just getting a visit would deter them from doing it again.

Would it be wrong? In my opinion, yes. Would I want to do that? Sure, but I wouldn't.
Calling the police would be a waste of their time and yours if this is the only time it's happened. If it's a regular occurrence, then a call to them to ask about reporting a noise ordinance violation. Talking to the pro shop would be the way I would handle it first. If you have to ask if it's wrong, then I think you already know the answer to your own question. |

If they live on a golf course, the course probably has some connection to the land development property that the house was built through. Just tell the course that you were really disappointed by the house on the par 5. If it continues you will take your business else where and write negative reviews on course review websites. That is about all you can do, but if that development firm is going to lose buisness, I bet they do something.

I'm going to go a step further, although perhaps this is what some of you meant. Many newer housing developments, at least within the last 20 years, on golf courses are part of a neighborhood association. That association typically has rules for the people who live there. Rules could be they owe so much in dues, they have to be mandatory members of the club, and they can't paint their house hot pink. It's entirely possible the association rules include something about obnoxious loud behavior. In that case, it may be possible to complain to the neighborhood association governing body.
