Default Golf Workouts on golf off days
Hi I am trying to put together some type of routine for about 30 to 60 minutes a day during the week, that I don't need machinery either to perform. So I guess wanted to know what everyone here does to keep in shape and flexibility in check, because right now I think my health for golf is awful. If you have even a full routine with a breakdown of sets needed to workout that would be even better so I can keep track.

If you want a good golf workout, get a yoga tape and learn there excersises. The stretches they do will improve your flexibility and help your golf game. I don't practice what I preach, but I have done yoga in the past and it is quite amazing.

bazz -- I work out four days per week when possible. My workouts are done in the gym where I use a few free weights and most of the machines. I'm not much help with what you are looking for however I have heard yoga is great for flexibility and jogging/walking briskly can help you with the cardio. Hopefully some other folks can give you better direction and good luck with your journey!

Watch the TPI show on the golf channel for ideas. I pick a few of their exercises to do every so often in my workout routine.

I run a fair amount (about 25-30 miles/week), and I find it really helps my golf game. There's the obvious cardio benefits, but it also keeps my weight down, which helps me make a better turn. (Apparently, it's easier to make a proper turn when there's not as much mass around your waist...)

I also try to lift free weights about once a week. I don't do much (all upper body and core), and I don't use much weight. I will really bulk up if I start lifting weights regularly, which hurts my swing. But I do find that minimal weights help my strength and flexibility.

haha, I can attest to that one

but seriously, if you're wanting flexibility, use smaller weights where you are in control, and focus on increasing your flexibility little by little. No need to do stretches with 75lb dumbbells, that's not going to help at all.

You might check out the new Nike360 app. They have some golf specific exercises there. GG has a thread started from her visit to Nike.

I do the insanity program and it's really good. It's a 60 day program to get in shape and isn't golf specific but it does work the core a lot and will get you into shape. I also work out at the gym 3 times a week doing mostly free weights.

Pilates would be great for golf too, its very core and flexibility centric.
