Fowler style angering older generation
 

Obliviously everyone has seen the huge increase in people dressing in the fowler outfits. Flat brim hats wild colors. I have just found it funny with some of my friends dressing in this style. The unbelievable disrespect and the extreme angry from the older generation. Just the flat brim hat alone almost has this perspective that your a punk or etc. In my opinion the older generation needs to get over the fact that this style Is becoming a huge part of the face of golf. Most likely in the eyes of the older generation will only become More "outlandish" and "disrespectful" Ricky fowler is the future of golf with or without his style .

Check out some of the outfits worn by pros in the 70s, quite rediculous by todays standard. I think if Rickys style helps bring in new younger fans of golf then maybe we should look past his style of clothing.

I guess I'm struggling to understand who of us old fogies think he's disrespectful? I see him as a bit outlandish, but then again I saw Elvis, Madonna and Meatloaf in the saw respect, but still enjoyed watching them. His style is not for me, especially the pornstar stash, but I will continue to pull for him.

screw the older generation, those days have long come and gone, its a new breed of player and personalities out there....get with the times

I think its a non issue and if someone has issue with colors or a flat brim hat Im wearing they need to look in the mirror and have a talk. I hate being judged like that.

I personally cannot stand flat brim hats. They look ridiculous in my opinion and would never wear one. However if you want to wear one thats your business, but please, at least take the sticker off!!

That's just ridiculous, I could see if he had his hat sideways and the stickers still on the hat. but nothing wrong with a flat bill hat, I have been wearing those type of hats since I was a little kid, and yes they did have them back in the day, they just werent as popular. personally I like them more than the rolled up bills on some hats that make it look like your wearing your little brothers hat, but the older gen also had some crazy syles as well, I mean they had knickers, in all sort of colors, there i snothign wrong with what ricky or as your starting to see more PGA players wear, like Hunter, and Ian Poulter, I mean he has some nice outfits too, maybe it is just me but I have never seen anythign disrespectful about any of his attire or style

define 'older generation' because I think people will have an opinion on the style no matter what their age is which is fine

There are items I would never wear on the course but that's me. Wear what you want when you want and enjoy yourself. Flay brim, bucket, louad colors, all balck, golf sandles...get down with what ever makes your boat float and leave the drame for yo mama

I don't mind the flat billed hats or the bright colors. I won't wear it but more power to those who do. I would rather show my style with my clubs than my clothes.

I tried to wear a flat billed hat once and my fiance attacked me, lol

I see a lot of 30 and 40 year olds at our club trying to wear the loud Puma outfits like Ricky.........it makes me laugh.

i wore a flat brimmed hat...when i played baseball. for golf i don't wear those heavier weight baseball hats b/c they get quite hot. my titleist hats would look ridiculous if i made them flat brimmed. personally, my 83 year old grandfather hasn't said one bad thing about Rickie, and he's a golf purist like no other...i don't know who these 'old people' are that everyone keeps referring to but, i, along with my grandfather think regardless of personal style that he is a great component of today's game.

It's not like he's wearing basketball shorts and a wife beater. He dresses appropriately, just likes bright colors.

The hats and clothes are fine... If nothing else they wake me up when I tune in to the tv action. When I was a runner and cyclist, I wore some pretty loud and crazy kit. Love the stuff...

The 'stach doesn't bother me except that he really just doesn't look good in it. He's a good looking guy and the 'stach just looks skeevie.

The hair has to go... Wear it long or short, but get a decent haircut. His hair looks like he cuts it himself with a weedeater.

in 20-30 years, Rickie's generation will be the old fogies and the outrage will be there over what the kids are doing.

It dont matter what the young guys wear, as long as they follow the rules of the game and whatever course they're on and treat others with respect. who cares what they wear. Wear what you want, but follow the fundamental rules. Yes, there's a new generation involved, that's OK but you'll always have some that have the attitude that they have to flaunt it, or shove it in the older guys face. Those are the ones that have some growing up to do. Personally, I wont wear the stuff the younger guys wear. You always hear people saying we need to grow the game, but it's stuff like this that turns potential new golfers off. Fowler is one hell of a golfer and he wants to wear his school colors on Sundays thats a cool thing to do in my opinion. The flat brim hats are a non issue with me, I have a Nike one myself. (I have a HUGE head and these hats fit me great) He's not teeing off with his pants hanging off his backside, so leave the kid alone. But the porn stache has to go LOL.

Well, I'm an older guy (67) and Ricky Fowler dresses just fine to me. I don't particularly like the hat but to each his own. I am only concerned with what I am wearing on the golf course, not anyone else.
