Default We Were Beat by a 13 Year Old Girl :-)
Today me and a 7 HI played against Megan, a 5 foot 13 year old (my coach's daughter) in a best ball match play competition. Our best ball against her. We played the back tees...as did she.

She beat us one up...and we played well. She pretty much found every fairway and green. Averaged about 250 off the tee, though on 18 she hit one 270.

Last week she played in an invitational in Virginia and on the final day made birdie on 18 to win the event shooting a 69. She's a +2 HI and most of her GHIN rounds are from tournament play.

She's just been offered a sponsorship by TM and someone from the TMPI in San Diego will be doing a full fitting at our local TMPI next month (clubs, bag, balls, etc).

She played in the last two Deutschebank ProAm's. The first one she played in she was paired with Camillo Villegas. He told her dad she has one of the best swings he's ever seen (they won). Last year she was paired with Anthony Kim and his coach told her dad that she was the "real deal". They also won on a birdie she made on 18, beating Lucas Glover and his group by one stroke.

Her dad's been her only instructor and he's self-taught. Anyway, she's a lot of fun to play golf with. I told her that she plays golf. I just hit the ball, find it and hit it again. lol

What's really impressive is her modesty. She never brags, boasts or anything like that. I'll ask her how she did in a tournament and she never says I won, or hit this shot or that shot. It's always, "I did okay."

Sounds like her head is screwed on. Be very interesting to see how she progresses as she gets older

She can't play from the ladies tees as they are way too short. The middle tees are driver/wedge for her. It's not along course, but very, very tight.

I'll be happy to. She had a tournament up in Maine a couple of weeks back and won by six strokes. Very tough course to. I was up there last year, my son played in it. Megan was in the opposite fairway and was in a bunker and I new she had about 190 to the pin. She took some kind of hybrid or wood and it put it on the green...must of been 15 to 20 feet from the hole.

That is awesome, and sounds like she's well grounded, which will go well with her skill. Hope we're hearing about her for a long time.

Yes, she's got it. When she was eight Paula Creamer was at our club and someone told her about Megan so Paula wanted to meet her. Megan was on the range and Paula went out there and watched her hit balls. She told Megan, "I'll see you in ten years."

Well, she loves to play. Her parents aren't one of those who push her to practice all the time. She loves to practice and hit balls. Unlike those she plays against she doesn't have a place to play/practice in the winter (unless you count heated bays).

We had lunch after our round at our facility. She got us our drinks and after we ate she cleared the table. Then she went to the range and hit balls...

It might happen before 10 years. Look at Alexus Thompson who recently signed with Cobra Golf and is still a teenager

I guess that could happen Gray. At 12, and just for the heck of it, she played in the Women's US Open Qualifier and shot a 78/79. But, unlike Alexis, she doesn't play golf in the winter (except for a huge international tournament in Florida in December, which she won last year). Who knows how good she'd be if she played year around. :-)

Very impressive indeed! I've been humbled more than once by younger players on the course, both male and female. Good to get the ole ego checked now and then.

In this case my ego wasn't checked at all. I've played with her before. Frankly, I would have been surprised if we won. :-)

Sounds like she would beat almost all if not all of us who read this forum, you actually played well Sean. It would tickle me pink to watch her play, and I would not be embarassed at all to be beaten by her, like OG says, she has the gift.
