For me its kind of way of gauging what I need to work on. When I used to practice this all the time, I would use 3 shots a lot on my wedge game. Draw, fade, straight, high, low, etc...Most of my work will come down to my normal shot, but working with ball position lets me know where my weaknesses are in some cases. My normal shot will almost always be my go to shot if I can have that and the conditions work for it.

For me its about getting back to the basics and working on what gets me the best scores. Lots of practice does that and this was a nice beginning test to gauge that.
Thanks. Yeah, I reckon that session would be a good 'taster' for where you are at the start of this. If you've already got a solid go-to shot, you already know which shot you'll be trying to groove I guess.

Looking forward to stealing some practice ideas anyway. I kind of get lost in my short game practice, and end up just hitting lots of chips around the green without a lot of meaning.

Thanks for taking us on your journey. Your story alone gives us a little insight into how much hard work handling all of us is; as I believe it was about 3 years ago you adopted all of us.

The first time I played with JB, I saw some short game magic. If that magic was there at TMC I dont think he would have lost. What I saw was deflating. If this part of your game returns your lethality will return
That right there is exactly how I have felt on the course the last year. Deflated because I could not do what I wanted to do with the ball. Its always good golfing, so I never get too down, but you are dead right, it was a shell of what it used to be and I am committed to get that back.

Good luck JB. I think your determination to do this should inspire others to do so. Good luck!

you will get it back. I honestly think it will come back quicker than you think. I know its an over used term but its like riding a bike. You sometimes forget how to do it well. But, once you put a little time in...the "feel" is back. That "feel" to me can not be taught or learned. I think some people just have it

Good luck I am sure things will get even better then they were. I might steal some of the drills from you :P

Tempo and timing just get a little rusty. Amazing what a solid hour or so hitting pitch and chip shots will suddenly bring back a lot of old feels.

I can sympathize, JB. I once considered my wedge play to be the best part of my game but as of late with work taking priority over practice time my short game has suffered. I stand over a 80 yard lob wedge and expect results of two years ago but it just doesn't happen. I guess its true what they say, "the short game is the first thing to go." Goodluck with your journey, I'll be reading!

Your goals should be attainable. You have the time and the facilities in order to make this happen.

When I was playing with TC this weekend, he said that is one of the biggest things of the MC. That is the short game of the players. He said the ones with the strongest short game prevailed. I have been struggling with my short game and wish I had a good place to practice it. All of my local places are just terrible for short game practice. I look forward to following along with you and hope to gain some drills to help me.
