This is an annual thing were my course gets members and employees to play another course in a Ryder Cup. We usually do two a year and our first one is this weekend. Tomorrow we play the opponents at their course (http://www.massresort.com/v.php?pg=31). It's 27 holes 2vs2 with 9 holes being best ball, 9 holes captains choice, and 9 holes alternate shot. I am teamed up with my course's head pro. Then on sunday we go back to my home course (http://www.ci.harrisonburg.va.us/index.php?id=665) for singles matchups. I haven't played in one for two years because i quit playing for 2 years but i'm so excited for this now. How many others have their course do this? I would totally recommend it to your pro because it is so much fun.

It's a lot of fun. We don't do member members or anything like that. We have stroke play championship, 2 man championship which is 27holes 9 captains choice, 9 best ball, and 9 alternate shot, also have club championship, then some local tournaments like the Valley Open which u play friday, saturday, and sunday and play 3 different courses here in the valley and it gets flighted. It is also fun but Id say the Ryder Cup is the most fun.

We do it one day annually on a home and home basis. Players are picked by our finish in the club championship tournaments. Teams include two pros, several each of juniors, midams, and seniors. The competition is 27 holes, 9 holes of four ball, 9 holes foursomes, and finally 9 holes singles match play. I got to play in 2010, also with the head pro as my partner, and it was some of the most fun I have had in a while on a golf course. Unfortunately, I didn't get to play this year, our club championships were early in May before I was recovered from knee replacement surgery.
I am on the top row left end in the photo. ![]() |
