For those who switched to the Superfast 2.0

how much did you have to change your swing and/or set up once you started playing the http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...taylormade.jpg SuperFast 2.0? I switched from the http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...ilies/ping.jpg G5 and it took me a good 2 rounds and 2 range sessions to be where i wanna be. and for anyone out there who is going through the transition, hang in there lol it only gets better once you find your groove. I love the driver and imo TaylorMade is the head of the pack when it comes to technology

GoblinGaga 07-18-2011 02:48 PM

Why would you have to change anything? Because of the open face?

Gorlummm 07-18-2011 02:48 PM

There is a huge amount of info from people on this driver here.

biggest reason people HAVE to change something is the shaft is an extra inch long

Half inch from most standard shaft offerings but I see your point.

neirty 07-18-2011 02:53 PM

I choke down much more than before

Teeppoodiug 07-18-2011 03:01 PM

I replaced the shaft and cut it down and am now a lot more accurate! Lost a bit of distance but it's well worth the trade off

Aztegjpl 07-18-2011 03:04 PM

I had the shaft trimmed to to the same length as my old driver and regripped. Been destroying the ball ever since. Just couldn't get the hand of the extra length for some reason.

Why would taylormade make the shaft 1/2" longer than standard? Seems kinda.......IDK. Pointless?

They say it gives the club more distance.. I can't attest as I havnt hit it, but people seem to be liking it a lot

Yeah, Like TH said, it is supposed to give you more distance. For some reason it gave me so much trouble, I just didn't want to work through it. I am still hitting bombs with it with the shorter shaft.

seems to be a consensus on the site, id say most of the people that have it have trimmed down the shaft somewhat. Im going to, just a matter of finding how how much

Hitfaromarf 07-18-2011 07:51 PM

I really don't think I would cut one down, jmho. I struggled with the same version 3w until finding the swing. Testing the driver I found it to have the same traits, it don't like being stepped on and simply isn't needed. Smoooth it out there and the face is hot enough to send it long.

I was hitting my previous driver well and that was the right length for me so I just brought it in with me and had them cut it to the same size. If I had the patience and time I would have worked it out but I am still mashing the ball with it so I am happy.

FateHostera 07-18-2011 08:42 PM

When I was first testing it out, I adjusted to the length by standing a little taller in my posture (which I probably needed to do just in general anyway); but in general I didn't have change anything with my swing. It's a wonderful club

Maybe for a taller player....someone that can get more whip in their swing. Not for us short guys

I remember hearing long ago that the longer the club shaft, the more lag you can generate, thus more swing speed and more power. I also remember hearing after that, and do believe, that theory is bupkis. It is because if you have a shorter driver, you can swing it with more force more accurately, so you'll generate more lag, clubhead speed, power that way than if you have a longer club. I never bought into the bsf 2.0's "longer shaft for more power hype", I just got it because of it's forgiveness and that its the best driver I hit of the ones I tested.

Best club I've EVER swung. I've thought about trimming it about 1/4"-1/2", because my misses are typically on the heal of the club.
However, when I do make solid contact, the ball GOES.

From a physics standpoint the longer the club length the faster the speed at the head. Your arms move the same speed and the longer club has to travel a longer distance meaning the head is moving faster even though your arms/hands are moving the same distance as before.

The longer club can make it harder to control so you might lose distance in real world use because of bad hits.

I have picked up 15 yards with the TP 10.5, even with the sightly open face I still put a nice draw on the ball. I couldn't control the regualar version every shot was a snap hook. It is a big step in the right direction when compared to my old SUPERTRI.
