Default Anyone buy used golf clubs from Golfsmith?
I know they are a reputable dealer, but since they dont really have any grading or anything showing the conditions of the used clubs, I wanted to know if anyone had any experiences buying used clubs ont heir site? Specifically drivers?

thanks

The lack of reliable grading is what has kept me from trying any of their stuff.

I have not, and would not, unless they were offering a guarantee on the condition. Also, I have not checked, but what is their return policy for used clubs? That would make a difference for me as well.

I looked at a used driver once in their store in Indy but a couple things turned me off real quick. One, they had no idea if the length, loft and lie was correct, and they wanted to charge me $14.99 to have it checked and they had no headcover. The price was also a little high given what they offer in trade in value. Nothing wrong with making money but they were marking up the used clubs as much as 80% above what they were offering in trade value on the same club.

With used clubs you have no idea what the previous owner did with it as far as specs go. I like new when it comes to golf clubs.

I actually bought a used Taylor Made '08 Burner from them last year. I think I paid around $70 for it. The condition of the club was fine for a used one. The only thing bad about it was the grip that was on there. It looked like the original grip and was in really bad shape. I was planning on regripping it when it came in anyway, so it wasn't that big of a deal to me. Other than that, the club was in good condition.

I was interested in a used club on their website so I emailed customer service asking the condition of the club. Never got a response so I did not buy it.

I have always found the prices a little out of line. Especially considering what they offer for trade in value. Head quarters is in Austin, they have a large selection of used clubs.

I purchased a 60* cleveland wedge from them, but it was an in-store purchase not their web-site. It was in good condition and cost me under $30

I'll just stick to new, it was only about $70 savings and probably not worth the gamble, thanks guys!

I've had excellent luck with Globalgolf.com for used clubs in great condition. Their rating system is very sound.
For your $70 savings, I think you made a great choice of going new. It's just not worth the risk.

Bought a set of used Adams CB2s from them last month - they were like new, except they had been regripped with Winn lite grips (which I still have not made up my mind on). Didn't look like anything longer than the 8-iron had even been swung.

I brought two clubs from them in the past two years, cleveland wedge and putter , they were in great condition. They are pricey but I did use a 15% off discount code.

I have bought a lot of clubs from them. I usually talk them down in price, and I always seem to find a headcover in the bin for the club. I like how I can hit the clubs when I'm interested in something.

I bought a Callaway wedge at the local Golfsmith. It was in great condition, and I hit it pretty well. The price on it was OK but as a general rule I don't buy anything at GS. Their prices are high on nearly everything I've looked at. Their clearance prices make me laugh, and their used prices make me want to vomit most of the time. Combine that with horrendous customer service, and it becomes a great place to go hit clubs I want to purchase elsewhere. Here in Raleigh, NC we are "LUCKY" to have one of the largest GS's in the country. But if you go in there make sure are pristinely dressed in full golf regalia or no one will look at you!

I have had both good and bad experiences with them. I stopped buying used clubs from them online after being sent a used driver that was purported to be in good shape but was beat up and had a big gouge out of the shaft just above the hosel. Wouldn't hesitate to go into one of their brick and mortar stores and buy new clubs from them, if the price was right but no more used online.

I have bought many from them . They let you buy them and use them for I want to say 10 -14 days. If you dont like it you can bring it back for 90 % refund .However most of the time you can get 100% back if you get something else. Almost all the stuff I got from them was like new. Alot of the times in store they will drop listed price.

I have never purchased on-line from them, one of my playing partners bought a set of Callaway X20's that where near mint condition, and still had the OEM sticker on the shaft, I have bought in store on occation, and Golf Galaxy is right next door so I compare prices. Over the winter I purchased from Golf Galaxy a Taylormade Superfast Burner with a Mitisubushi Fubuki stiff shaft for $85.00 and while I was checking out I saw the correct headcover in a box behind the counter , ask the sales lady about it and she handed it to me at no charge. They are now my favorite golf store

This sounds EXACTLY like the nearest one to me. I was actually there tonight picking up a grip for my driver to replace the JumboMax grip and was looking around.

Used R11 - $339
Used 49 Niblick - $81

Not near enough savings for a used club to keep me from purchasing new.
