Default Gary Player and me
The great South African showed up at my Club last week. It turns out that his daughter lives in the area and he was visiting, so he wanted to play a round at the course where he still holds the course record from the early 70's.

He's got me by twenty. I hope I can still swing a club at his age.

Gary Player: "You know, I used to hold the course record here."
phan52 : "I think you still do."
Gary Player: "63? That is still the course record?"
phan52: "Well, two guys have tied it in the last couple of years. A member, and Steve Wheatcroft, who plays on the Nationwide Tour."
Gary Player: "Never heard of him. Did they do it in a competition or a tournament?"
phan52: "No, they were just playing a game with friends."
Gary Player: "Well, then. I believe that I still hold the course record."

I'm jealous, Phan. I've met Steve Jones (I know, I know, but he DID win a major), but that's it.

Johnny Miller owns the course record at a public course I frequent, shot a 63 sometime in the 70's.

Whitemarsh Valley CC.
He set the course record during the old IVB Golf Classic, a PGA event that was there for 18 years.
