My first tournament is April 18th at TPC Boston. My second is on April 25th at The Kittansett Club, perennially ranked as one of "America's 100 Greatest Golf Courses" by Golf Digest magazine. I'm looking forward to be playing two such fine courses, which are usually way above my pay grade. lol

Sounds great man, looking forward to hearing how you played and how you liked the tour.

Very cool Sean, good luck out there.

Thanks Duey and CB! I'm really pumped...especially after such a long winter...there's still a ton of snow on the ground but I'm sure it'll be gone by April. :-)

Joined New England Amateur Tour

I joined the New England Amateur Tour today. It's run by the New England PGA. The first tournament I'll play is on April 18th at TPC Boston, home of the Deutschebank Championship.

I'll be playing some very exclusive private clubs and am looking forward to not only the competition but playing some very fine golf courses, which will be a new experience for me.

I've seriously thought about this. I think I'd like to get the handicap down more before I do. Enjoy it and good luck!

geniusxs81 02-19-2011 11:34 PM

I've also given some serious thought to this, though this probably won't be the year unless financial situation improves. Look forward to hearing more about it and how you do. Good luck!

Your HI is lower than mine GH. :-) Here is some information from their FAQ page:

What’s the level of competition?

Every event will have a gross division, net division and net stableford division. All competitors are automatically entered into each of the three events. Individuals placing “in the money” in more than one division will win prizes in the division where they receive the largest prize. We expect to have players of all abilities, men, women & seniors!

How good do I have to be to play on the New England Series?

We expect you to have a working knowledge of the rules and golf etiquette. If you can break 110, you will enjoy the NES and have the ability to compete against the field.

It costs $100 to join and they give you a $75 gift bag. I'm not sure how much each tournament costs. They play some very nice venues.

Here is the website if either of you would like more information: http://www.newenglandseries.com/index.cfm?menu=4579

Looks like a nice selection of courses. Most in MA, I think. Almost makes me wish I was still in New England - almost.

Good luck and have fun.

enlinnyGoob 02-20-2011 04:21 AM

I'm definitely going to have to look into this, sounds like fun. I actually have the game now not to get completely embarrassed at some of those clubs either. Sean, any idea on what time of day the tournaments are at? I do have some weekdays off, but some other weekdays are ones where I couldn't play the tournaments in the morning, but could play in the afternoon.

DaleJrGirl 02-20-2011 04:23 AM

Congrats...I'm sure you'll have a blast!

wbeachcomber 02-20-2011 04:38 AM

I'm not sure Ary. You could email Joan Stuart and she may be able to give you some definitive answers. Perhaps like GH you could plan far enough in advance? I looked at some of the courses on the schedule. Very nice. :-)
