When I saw the picture the first thing I thought about was the scene in Caddyshack when Carl picks up the Baby Ruth bar from the bottom of the pool and took a big ole bite out of it causing Mrs. Smails to faint http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...ies/messed.png

interested in hearing Hawks and everyone elses thoughts on these.

I've been eating these for a few days now. Looking forward to the other members receiving them and sharing their thoughts. I know there are still some folks that haven't responded to GolferGal regarding being picked, so take a quick look here if you haven't looked in the last couple days.

how's the taste? chalky or no?

Anakattawl 01-13-2010 03:48 AM

Definitely not chalky to me. They are similar to other products in texture, but the taste is pretty good.

I just now saw that I had been picked. YAY! these will be harder to lose than golf balls, hehe.

No bars yet- but I managed to find something equally as exciting today!

After a little bit of hunting I was able to find the full text of the original "Driver Accuracy" study they quote on their website! It was published in the Journal of International Society of Sports Nutrition in December of 2007.

Ok... so maybe I am the only person whom this actually interests, but I am excited that I can evaluate it the same way I would evaluate any claims other drugs make and cut through the marketing to see what we as consumers really should know/expect from the product!

Cool stuff, Gus. I'll be interested to hear your thoughts on it.

Hawk, did you try freezing any of these yet? Reason I ask is that I love sticking a Snickers or a BR bar in the freezer and 1) they taste great and crunchy and 2) they tend to last longer on the course post freeze.

I found one of these (Chococcino flavor) waiting for me in the mailbox last night when I came home from work. Since it was in the mailbox all day, it was like putting one in the freezer Spank. I was hungry and it was there so it didn't take a genious to figure out what was going to happen next. I dove in while it was still somewhat frozen and it was just hard to chew on. I had to let it thaw out before I could enjoy the pending taste testing. The texture was about the same as most protien bars, like a firm nougat center. They kinda remind me of the Protien Plus bars I used to get but better tasting because they aren't loaded up with protien powder. It definitally doesn't have that chalky taste of too much added powder to the mix... it was just right. The chococcino flavor is nice and light, not overbearing like some flavorings I've had, and works well with the outer chocolate coating. For the overall taste I'd give them the 2 thumbs up. It filled me up when I was hungry and held me over for a couple of hours till I decided to find some real food. As for their golfing ability claims, I'll leave that up to the "People's Champion" (Hawk).

Well done there DG. I could almost taste that thing from your review.

Ok, I got my bar in the mail today. I will try it out tomorrow. It promises to "help improve accuracy off the tee" so we will see if this holds true. I'm not sure if its the size that mine is, maybe it got squished, I'm not sure...But its a good sized bar, normal size. I haven't opened it yet. I smelled it, no smell hee hee!! It says its chococcino flavor, so we'll see what that means. Stay tuned for tomorrow on my report :) This is fun!! Thanks again THP :)

I came into work today to find a sweet little treat in my mailbox and since I skipped breakfast this morning I resisted the urge to rip it open and devour it without pause. I noticed someone posted about feezing them, so I cut it in half and placed part in the freezer, the other half went directly to my empty tummy.

Hmm pretty dang tasty...exactly my first thought after taking the first bite.

Honestly I was very nervous at first, cause I mean who wants to try something and it just taste awful, then it seems like the rest of the day you taste it, no matter what! Well surprise, I like em! The chocolate outer portion is spot freaking on (take note other nutrition bar maker people, these things can actually taste good!) so they had me at hello. Also, I held a piece in my hand just to see how quickly the chocolate would melt, no problems there as it was all gone and there was zero chocolate on my fingers. I wasn't all that enarmored with the slight coffee flavor but it wasn't overpowering either, so that's a plus. The inner portion reminded me a Reese's FastBreak in terms of texture on the tongue, not in taste.

The frozen half was similar, obviously a little firmer, but if I were to purchase these I would definetly toss them in the freezer the night before my round. They are perfect for freezing, the chocolate on the outside doesn't get "break a tooth hard" it just firms up a bit, which is a welcome change from others I have tried.

In conclusion I would say that if I could change one thing it would be the flavor (maybe just a little milder taste), but I am not a huge cold coffee fan anyway so you may consider me biased. That being said I wouldn't mind eating these again either before my round or at the turn...or in the car on the way home...or after I get home...anywhere anytime...bring it on!

Thank you to THP and IQ, in my opinion you may have a winner on your hands here.

Just keep in mind that the accuracy claim is after 6 weeks of eating the product.

@SW - great write-up! Our thoughts are very similar.

So I ate my bar today and I shred with the BF. I actually like it. It tasted very good but was a little too chewy for my taste. The BF said that's it's as good a sports bar you can get. He liked the flavor and the consistency of it and would definitely buy it and packs of it. Me, on the other hand, could take it or leave. I did like it and it did taste quite yummy!! Perfect size too!!

How in the world did you get yours before me? lol

You would think FL to TX would be faster than FL to CA.

Rinkeliacasse 04-13-2010 02:16 AM

Im in IA and still haven't received mine, gotta love the usps.

bestbyV 04-13-2010 02:20 AM

Its the post office, thinking stops at the front door. People in California got their putter covers before I got mine and I'm only 4 hours south of THP world headquarters.

Your bar may be paste or protein powder before you get it though.
