Default Meeting the pro's....
Share your story of playing with/ meeting the pro's on the course!

Robert Gamez used to play at my home course all the time, and while not a huge name he was a pretty cool guy and actually played a few rounds with him.

Not necessarily speaking of meeting pros in events or signings but more of random encounters!

GG would be here all day typing this out....hehe. Being the tiny female reporter inside the ropes, she knows them all. But we will skip that of course. By the way, I have heard that Gamez is just one of the nicest guys outside of the course.

He really was. I was only 16 when I played with him and he was awesome. Really laid back, offered some really good help but not overbearing at all. He played in our member guest for probably 4 years in a row I can remember.

And yah i can only imagine you and GG, you guys could write a 50 page novel on this heh.

Good thread idea JRod!

When I played high school golf they grabbed a bunch of us to caddy for the then Ben Hogan tour, later the Nike Tour and is now the Nationwide Tour. Anyway I got to see a lot of guys that would eventually make it to the big leagues but the two that stick out the most are 1. Caddying for Tom Lehman, I think it was in either 1992 or 1993, he was doing really well and his wife was his normal caddy but she wasn't going to make it til Wednesday night so I got to be his caddy for the Wednesday Pro Am, it was cool but at the time I didn't know he would eventually become a major winner and future Ryder Cup captain. 2. Chris DiMarco was good buddies with one of the guys I caddied for one year and they played a few practice rounds together, DiMarco was a stud, long wicked curly mullet and sharp looking and sharp dressing, the ladies loved him but he had a super hot female caddy for him (might have been his wife?).

Both Lehman and DiMarco were super nice guys, DiMarco was pretty soft spoken, real polite and all but I just didn't really get to talk to him. Of course at the time he was just struggling through the minors and he was just another player as far as I was concerned, it's neat to see him now and remember that sweet mullet! Lehman was really nice, he stiffed me on the caddy payment because "his wife had the checkbook" but later in the week I tracked him down and he had a check for me, $30 for 18 holes of caddying. Too bad I didn't catch him after he made millions on the PGA Tour, I'm betting it would have been more than $30!!

I almost sold Joey Sindelar from the Champions tour a Mercedes about 5 years ago, but the numbers didn't work out... He was playing at the BC open at the time on the regular tour. The course was 15 min from our dealership and about an hour from his house. The same course now hosts the Dicks Sporting Goods Open on the Champions Tour. Super nice guy! I was trying to negotiate a round of golf into the deal... and he was open to it... haha!
