Default Cart Question
Since you have to pay green fees and cart fees, but sometimes the cart fees are included with the green fees, why do you have to share a cart? If cart fees are the same per person, why wouldn't the BF and I be able to get our own carts?

I'd actually prefer my own cart. I tend to keep my shots in the fairway while he's off in the rough, either far right or far left and always has to go hunting for his golf ball.

Most courses only have enough carts to keep the course full. If everyone used their own, then they wouldn't have enough for the day, especially at peak times. There have been times I was a half hour away from starting and the course didn't have a cart to give until someone got done. Plus it is just added expense to run more carts out. Extra charging or gas, extra cart boy time, etc.

If you go at a time when it isn't busy, you could ask if you could each take one. They might not mind if it wasn't too busy.

I have to think it's to limit the number of carts in each pairing.. Obviously courses only have a limited number of carts..

I do see what you're saying though... That's why I prefer to walk.

Well, if that's the case, then they should have a discount for 2 riders then!!

You are actually paying for 1/2 cart. I'm sure the course would let you have both seats if you paid 2 cart fees. The course needs to maximize revenue, while limiting maintenance expenses. It would have to be a slow day for the shop to allow 2 carts for 2 players, or you would need to batting a lot of eyelashes. You would also probably need to be a regular to get your own cart.

If it's $15 for one rider, then yes. My home course is $7 per rider per 9 holes, or $14 per rider for 18 holes. That takes into consideration covering the lease cost, maintenance, gas, and general wear and tear. If they let you take 2 carts for the same price, then it's a losing proposition. No course I know of will let 2 singles each have a cart unless they are willing to pay the full cart fee... it just doesn't make sense financially.

If you use good cart etiquette, you would drop him off to look for his ball while you go and hit yours, then return and pick him up or help him look. That is how experienced riders do it.

Its actually the other way around. He'll drop me off at my ball while he goes looking for his. I may as well just walk it. Nah, I don't help him look, if he would just hit it down the middle of the fairway, we wouldn't have a problem. But he spends sooo much time looking for his ball that it drives me crazy He'll drop me off and I'll take 2-3 clubs with me + my putter

I went to a course the other day and me and my uncle were playing. My wife doesn't play but wanted to go with me. They made me pay extra cart fees because me and my wife had a cart even though my uncle and I both paid cart fees. That played a part in whether I go back there or not seeing as how no other course around here has ever done that.

Side note: When my friend was pregnant, she went to the golf course with us but she wasn't able to play (she just wanted to hang out with us), but she stilll had to still pay green fees.

I was told by someone that it was common to do that. It is like a liability release if they pay to be in the cart, in case they get hurt while on the course... at least that's what someone told me...

haha... that is why I told my girlfriend not to worry about being slow when we get paired with people... the guys are always in the woods looking for their ball. My friend calls it military golf... Left, Right, Left, Right....

Come to GA and I'll hook you up with 2 separate carts at no extra cost!

Sounds like you need to find an extra person to play with you and ride with your BF. They could share the cart and you could have yours by yourself. I like having my own cart too. Today Ol' Gray and I played with one of my GF's. I rode with her since we use the same tee box and he rode alone.

Haa haa haa, that is sooo true Unfortunately, he plays the yellow Srixon Z-Stars, you can sort of find them easier if the grass doesn't eat them, so that's why he'll spend more time looking for them because they cost a pretty penny

Sorry, another side note: He seems to not lose his Titleist Pro-V1s but loses the yellow Srixon Z-stars all the time, go figure

Golfchick , like staticline said, when you pay for a round of golf you pay the greens fees which covers walking the course. If you choose to use a cart, then the fee you pay is for half the cart. So each foursome would take two carts. If everyone had their own carts on the public courses it would be a nightmare and rounds would take 6-7 hours versus 4-5 hours as they do on a busy weekend.

That is common on all courses, if the person goes on te course he/she needs to pay a fee. The course is liable if she were to be injured on the course.

This is pretty common most places. A rider is a rider.... Why would it matter if they are playing golf or not?

I don't get that... charging for the cart, yes, but not for green fees. My course will get money any way they can, but they still don't charge green fees for a ride along.
