Default Water Balls
Could anyone give me the heads up on how would it take for a ball to lose its effectiveness while being in water? In other words if say I hit a couple of balls into the water on our island green and then came back a couple of days later would they still be okay?

The modern ball holds up really well with aging, unlike the old wound balls of my younger years. A bit of time in the water is really inconsequential. Take a look at the paint - a ball that has been in the drink too long will eventually get water under its finish, and there will be water bubbles in the dimples. At that point they are compromised, but if the finish is still good in all likelihood the performance is still good.

Was wondering this as well. The drought here has caused the water around our #9 island green to recede so I just picked out a ton of balls, 10 of which are ProV1/ProV1x. They're free so I was going to hit them regardless, but I'll check them further to see if they're "bubbly". That hole is a goldmine because the water is shallow and quite easy to pick up a bunch of balls on any given weekend, especially after a tournament.

I read somewhere that a ball's performance is compromised after two weeks in the water. Beats me.
