Default Calloway Wedges Suck
I'm just now figuring this out. Love their irons but I've noticed that their SW and GW don't seem to spin like others I've hit and surely don't check like my Cleveland LW. So after watching yet another well hit SW to a back pin release over the green I bought a Volkey. My first shot with it was one of those low one hop and stop beauties. I've since ordered their GW. You can get them used for $40.

Have no idea what took me so long

Vokeys are the best wedges. If you want maximum spin make sure that you get spin-milled Vokeys. Make sure that they are 2009 or earlier.

What ball do you use? Does that matter?

I bought a bunch of Callaway Warbird balls on sale a few years ago and those rocks don't spin much, even when I flush em with my Vokey LW.

Go with Cleveland wedges.

On second read, I see you already have with at least one club.

My callaway forged wedges spin just as much if not more than my vokeys do.

It doesn't matter what brand of wedge I use, I couldn't put a spin on the ball to save my life.

Pro VI and Hell yes the ball matters.

I can see how the forged Calloway wedge would bite but I'm talking about the cavity backed wedges that came with my set of X-18. I haven't had a chance to play much and for whatever reason haven't found myself in need of them from the fairway too often yet. But there is no doubt they will help me.
