Golf Magazines?
I was wondering if people here had opinions about the different golf magazines out there (excluding THP since we all love it)... I tend to do a lot of traveling, and am looking for some reading material for the travel down time in the airports, etc...
There are alot of mags out there... Golf Digest Golf Illustrated Golf Magazine Golf Tips Travel and Leisure Golf Golfweek Golfworld Links etc... I enjoy the local Southland Golf magazine that I can pick up for free at the local pro shop, but am looking for more reading material.... opinions? |

Kidding aside I'm like you in thinking that the golf magazines go way overboard with instruction. In a years worth of mags you'll get at least 20 different versions of how to do the same thing everyone of them being the so called key to success |
I got a subscription to Golf Magazine for the last few years, but the gift was not repeated this year. I haven't missed it. Most of the articles had little interest for me. Most were about traveling to upscale places I am not going to spend the money on or conflicting instruction from one page to the other.

Here's some friendly advice re: renewing your subscriptions to any magazine subscription you may have. I've been doing this for years and have saved hundreds of $$$$. When you get your renewal notice/invoice.....check Amazon to see what their subscription price is. Usually it's much lower than what the magazine is wanting. Call up said magazine and ask them if they'll match the price. They always do and either issue you another invoice or tell you to short-pay for the amount you're referring to. Every year I renew both Golf and Gold Digest for the price it would cost to renew Golf Digest alone. http://www.thehackersparadise.com/fo...ies/banana.gif

I've saved hundreds of $$$ not renewing at all

I don't dislike most publications but wish they had more stories and interviews. |
we subscribe to a few magazines and southland golf is free at the course, so we will just pick these up!

I have in the past subscribed to Golf, Golf Digest, Golf Illustrated.... all quickly got repetitive and were dropped. I'm not a an equipment junkie, nor am I a swing tinkerer, and those topics are the primary focus of most golf magazines. As a result I don't read any of them.
I read Colorado Avid Golfer because it comes with the discount book that I buy most years. At least it covers topics that are of specific and local interest and it usually only takes about 20 minutes to read everything of interest. I pretty much get all the golf info I need online and on Golf Channel. |
I don't subscribe or read them. The "golf tips/lessons" often contradict one another. Most of the travel suggestions are beyond my means. Too many ads. And, I don't need to see any new golf gizmos or equipment. :-)

I do like seeing the swing breakdowns and analyses. Those are cool. I'm surprised Golf Digest hasn't come out with a book, just of those.
Edit: Okay, I've never looked for one. If it exists, someone will point it out to me. |

I'm canceling my golf subscription next renewal and signing up for Playboy for better instructions. http://www.thehackersparadise.com/fo...es/biggrin.png
