Anyone else have a short/executive course as home course?

Just curious. My home course is Legacy/Fox Creek in Smyrna. Two 18-hole short courses, Legacy is a Par 59 and Fox Creek is Par 62.

Play there mostly because it's ~15 minutes away and they have an awesome annual pass deal- for under $400 I can play all year. New rule this year that carts are required before noon on weekends ($10)... but I just play later in the day since I hate to ride in a cart, especially there.

No, but we have one we play at sometimes, especially at the beginning of the year. 18 hole, Par 60, 3400 yards. Six Par fours and twelve par threes. No riding carts. We use our push carts there. It also has a huge driving range, with grass stations and mat stations. About half of the mats are covered.

If you're still in the area next spring we are going to have to go and play Smiley's. I've never played any executive course.

Sure thing. We like it early in the season because we don't like to play the big courses until it's not cart parth only.

Mo even if he's out there with the Governator you always have someone to play Smiley's with ya.
Merimac in Lawson is a pretty good executive course and you don't have to walk it like Smileys.

Sounds good Jeff, I didn't know there were two courses in Lawson. Have you played both?

There's Teetering Rocks in KC MO off of 86th Street too. It's longer than Smiley's (around 4,600 yards, Par 64). Here is the hole you hit off the cliff to a heart shaped green. It's about a 3 or 4 club drop.

No I didn't know there were two. I've just played Merimac. I usually play with a buddy from Lawson so I'm really not that familiar with the town.

The other is called Hidden Valley, IIRC, it's not an exec course though.

Edit: Here's the link.

I guess I'll have to check that one out too.

Give me a shout when you are going and I'll try to join you. I haven't played it yet either.

Sopzoozyren 12-24-2009 03:27 AM

Its not a home course, as a matter of fact, I don't have a home course I consider home yet...but we do play a lot at Par 3s, work on the short game http://www.thehackersparadise.com/fo...ilies/good.png

Sounds good...

It's not our home course, but our town has a 9 hole par 3. 1,000 yards. It's great with the kids.

We have a par 3 and an executive course close by. The former has water on almost every hole and the latter is short, but target golf so they both are challenging. The executive course is rated.

BoomBully 12-24-2009 04:03 AM

The course I play most often (because its about a 2 minute drive from the house) would be considered an executive course. I suppose you could call it my home course.

Par 66 - 5100 yds from the tips. http://www.rigov.org/golf/saukie.html
The course is mostly short par 4's. There is one par 5 that seems very long after playing the other holes. Nothing spectacular, but I can be home in 3.5 hours, which comes in handy with a 4 month old baby at home .

One of the courses I frequent has an executive 9-hole course. It plays ~1800 yards, with six par 3's and 3 par 4's. It's the oourse I play most often with my teenage sons. It's walk-on, and takes about 90 minutes to play. http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...s/thumbsup.gif

My home facility has a nice little 9 hole Executive course (par 31) and a pretty decent 9 hole par 3 course in addition to the 18 hole (par 72) course. Both short courses offer some good variety in hole design.

I only play the Exec 2 or 3 times a year though. I just prefer playing a full 18 holes when I play. http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...lies/golf2.gif
